Our member, ol don, made the suggestion for this topic. Many of our members no longer have use for walkers, crutches, bath seats, bed handles - the list of assistive devices is endless. They have generously offered to send them to others who need them. Only items that are offered for FREE can be listed. You can handle the shipping and handling prices among yourselves.
This topic has been set up for you to mention what you may have that others can use. All succeeding arrangements must be made by PRIVATE E-MAIL. I CANNOT be an intermediary. This section is only for making people aware of what you would like to offer.
NO MEDICATIONS - Medications CANNOT be offered here, due to legalities. What you do in a private e-mail is private, but this is a public forum - medications CANNOT be offered or exchanged here.
I guess its only fitting then that I start,I have a walker an a set of new never used crutches if anyone can use them I would be more than happy to send
We have a CPAP machine - it is in good condition - he has used it until his doctor changed him to a different type. It would need new hoses and mask. It is in a carrying case and works fine.
I donated Jim's extra wide, heavy duty wheelchair and his oversized walker to the Hospice House. They did not have either and were more than thrilled to have them. So if any of you don't find "takers" for your items, think about Hospice.
It was a good feeling when I was able to send dh's wheel chair pants and shirts, elastic waist pants and hospital gowns to a member here who is now using these items for her husband. They seem to go from stage to stage so fast that clothing items are almost like new when they can no longer use them.
We have Mom to Mom sales around my area, maybe we can have a Caregiver to Caregiver exchange in clothing items here.
Since my hb stopped taking the Namenda, we have a new bottle of 60 tablets, 10mg that I will send to someone who needs it. I prefer someone that has tight finances and insurance that doesn't help much with Rx or none at all as I hear it is expensive. I know there are ones here that fall in that category. You can email me at all4evrhis@lloydsetc.com or the address in my profile.
Can you recommend some bed rails. Right now I am using a very heavy chair (which is hard on my back). Most look like you have to pull them out from under the mattress. Is there a better rails that you can recommend? Thanks.
I use the rails my daughter got for her boys when they were young and in bunk beds. They are plastic with webbing and bars that slide under the mattress. Since they only cover half the length of the bed, my wife has no trouble getting in or out. I just leave them in place all the time (actually, I use only one rail on my wife's side of the bed)
