Latest update on Krissy as she waits for a heart transplant. The donor heart became available last night, but the transplant team couldn't fly to its location because of thunderstorms and "no fly" conditions for private jets. This is the lastest news as I received it. Quote From Caring Bridge:
They just took Krissy back to OR because the anesthesiologist said the heart looked good. The OR staff will replace Krissy's Swan, add an arterial line, put a foley catheter in and generally get Krissy ready. We haven't met the transplant coordinator on call today (not one of the 3 aunts), but we did hear the heart was good. The transplant team hasn't left the hospital where the donor is yet so please continue to pray that the weather will allow the transplant team to safely land here. Thunderstorms were expected to hit after eleven this morning so again, please pray that the weather stays good. Please pray that Krissy has peace and that Renee does too. Please pray for a successful transplant.
Great news, I am praying for all concerned especially the donor's family, they have made the ultimate sacrifice. waiting for more details.....Love and prayers....Phyllis
Nancy, Prayers that this is the perfect heart for Krissy and that all goes well today. Prayers also for the donor family that they may find peace in the gift of life. Sue
We have always said we could not pray for a donor heart, because that would be praying for someone else's loved one to die. We always pray for God's miracles to heal Krissy. It's all in HIS own time, if it be HIS will.
In the past, after twelve months, UNOS will forward a letter written by someone in the donor family that would tell about the donor, - but they never reveal specifics. Names are blacked out, as well as the address. Krissy's family will write a letter back - through UNOS (United Network of Organ Donors) that expresses their gratitude to the Donor Family - and that letter is forwarded on..with appropriate deletions, when necessary.
Some people eventually meet, but in the past, they felt it was not in the best interest of the two families. I've seen "reunions" on TV recently, where the families are brought together. I suppose it's up to the families.
Dearest Nancy, I have been receiving updates all day, and it appears that the transplant has begun. My entire family and all my friends have been praying for Krissy every single day! I have left a note on her Caringbridge page every day. That was a promise I made to myself when you first told us about Krissy. Having lost my son in June, this has really taken ahold of me. God Bless you all, and we will continue to pray for Krissy, and for the wonderful family who had the strength and courage to provide a heart! Much love!
DIANE v, Would you please go to "contact me" and get my email address. send me an email so I can answer yours....I have a question...and a bushel of thanks for your incredible spirit and prayers...and hugs for Dominick. Be sure to share the power of his prayers when he returns home. Nancy
Thank you all from the bottom of my heart for your prayers and support throughout all of this ...it's been absolutely mind boggling for me..to be here with Foster who was put into Hospice last week..and worrying about Krissy...then Foster had a TIA on Friday and Monday. I'm doing something right now that I haven't done in months or years. Because our MARY "made me do it", I am drinking a stiff Bloody Mary. Note: Mary MADE ME do it. Oh Lord, .... get us through this day!.................and be with Krissy as she begins her third miracle of life.
Nancy I have been keeping a friend up to date on Krissy. She lost her daughter at age 18 Here is her reply " Sometimes life is just so good. Couldn't be better news. "
Hello Nancy, have been following Krissy's report every day, waiting for the Good News...it finally has happened..God Bless the family of the donor....it is a beautiful Gift of Life....Enjoy your drink!! you need it, hope Foster is doing better...hugs....Rosalie
Nancy, just read the last journal...it looks like all is going well....I can only imagine the Happiness that you are all feeling....will keep praying....God Bless you all...Hugs..Rosalie
Coming here late; but not too late to offer continued prayers of thanksgiving and praise as well as prayers for continued physical healing for Krissy and emotional healing for the donor family.
Thank you all sooooooooooooooooo much. Your comments, prayers and good wishes are simply overwhelming. Needless to say, I'm suddenly so sleepy. I didn't really sleep all night..mind was racing, checking the computer for updates and watching the weather channel to see if those thunderstorms in the center of our nation were going to clear up. Of course, the transplant team cannot tell us where the heart is coming from, but as soon as they said the strong thunderstorms were keeping the private jet grounded, everyone went directly to their Blackberries or the Weather Channel to see where the storms were. Straight up and down from Oklahoma to Canada. Both East and West USA were clear. What tecky's we are.
Thank you again...and I believe I will sleep tonight. I pray that everyone else up in Dallas will get some rest as well. They were in the Family Waiting Room all night. Imagine how tired they are.
I'm still awake and it's 4:45 am. Still can't turn off the whirling in my brain from the past 24 hours. The other two times, I was with her and we'd be up 24-36 hours with no sleep. Guess that syndrome still is inside me. I keep hoping she is resting...and I'm sure with the anesthesia in her body, she will be, more or less. And, I hope she wakes up hungry! Thank you all again...for your wonderful support. Nancy.
Nancy B, how wonderful to start today full of gratitude and hope instead of despair over Krissy's situation. We are all so very happy for you and your family.
