Today is World Alzheimer's Day - There are awareness raising events planned around the WORLD, and there are simple things you can do to help raise awareness. In today's blog, I have written about an incident that happened to us that became an awareness raising opportunity. I have also include a series of links to interesting articles and press releases. Please log onto the home page - www.thealzheimerspouse.com- and read all about it.
Joan-thanks for the reminder. I just put my purple bracelet on. I am on my way to St. Lucied Med center for a training program and will tell all why I am wearing my purple bracelet.
Just watched the Today show this am and they had a short segment with David hyde pierce and some drs about the AD world day. they acknowledged the deficit in AD funding and how the boomers will cost medicaide/medicare trillions of drs if we dont start now harder to address the disease -i am glad its happening but was peeved that the only mention of AD was with STILL the 'elderly parent' and not a spouse and what all at stakeas far as losses. they did mention how EOAD is now prevalent it can be- its a start -divvi
Run down and in bed for the day, but wearing my purple pjs. I send all my emails in purple text always. Kinda wished I'd gotten my purple broken heart tatoo in a more visable spot so that more people would ask and I could spread the word, but I did tell my mamographer!
I will check into that. I thought it was only broadcast on the web, and by the time I looked more carefully last night, I missed the program. It's going to be broadcast again, so I'll make sure I record it.
