Charlie has started to show "seizure activity" in the past week. He had one on Wednesday, one on Saturday and two today. (He has FTD and has been confined to a nursing home for the past 3 months). I know that most of you know this but I sometimes find it hard to remember what everyone's diagnosis and circumstances are even though I read the site regularly, so I usually state his condition in each post. He starts by making snoring sounds (he can't speak) then he begins to breath very hard, his arms and legs stiffen, fingers turn bluish/white, eyes become very wide and fixed. It lasts from 1 to 2 minutes and his blood pressure and oxygen levels drop and his heart rate increases. Once the episode passes, his vitals return to normal fairly quickly and he is very tired and usually goes into a deep sleep. He had the two he had today early in the day today has been in bed all the rest of the day. Could not even get him to wake up and eat his dinner. Anyone have any thoughts or experience with anything like this?

Edis-stating your husband's condition when you post is a great idea. With so many of us it is difficult to keep track. Since your husband is in a nursing home has his doctor been contacted.

Yes, I was told that he had been put to bed "under doctor notification" meaning that the doctor has been notified of his condition. They told me that the doctor would probably send him for a cat scan but not tonight unless he worsens. I did just talk to them and they told that he got up after I left and ate his dinner and his vitals are good. Yes, this site has grown so much. I read about someone and I know that I have read about them before but I can't always remember who's spouse they are or the circumstances surrounding their situation.

My dh has had one seizure (feb of this year) and it was similar to what you described, ehamilton. When it happened, scared the pee-wadden outta me & I called 911 and we went to the ER via ambulence. As you said, lasted about 1-2 minutes, stiffening of limbs, and then a deep deep snoring, sleep...could not wake him. He woke up in the ambulence. Once @ the hospital, they did lots of tests, etc and determined nothing new...however, his neurologist put him on 300 mg of lyrica daily. Since that one, no others. VERY THANKFUL!! Now that I know what to expect, will not call 911 again...have heard of others with AD having seizures...approx 10% do. But didn't know this until we experienced. When it happened, had just gotten DH back into bed from going to the restroom...his urologist said that after urinating, this can occur...wondering if your DH has experienced his seizures following a restroom event. My DH is diagnosed into our 6th year now with "early onset AD" vs. FTD or something else. Hoping this is helpful to you...
