My 23 year old granddaughter, Krissy, is still waiting in a Dallas hospital for a heart transplant. They are so touched by the many members of this site who have left a note in her Guestbook. Someone thought of the idea of putting a map up in her room and they are placing flags on the different states when they get a note from there. All you have to do is to click on her site and say "HI, I'm a friend of Grammy's, and wanted to let you know we're thinking about you!"..then sign and list your town and state, or only the state if you prefer. You can click onto Caring Bridge and see the picture of the map on her wall.

Anyone who has time to help her 'fill the map' from all over would surely bring smiles to her brave little face. If you have time, would you please? Copy and click on to:

    http://www.caringbridge.org/visit/kristinabecker/journal.

and leave your note in her Guestbook. Thank you so much! Nancy B
    (Know anyone from Alaska???)

    Nancy B,

I saw in the blog the other day that they were marking the map, so I already left a message with my city and state. Anything to give your granddaughter a smile.

We did have someone from Alaska, but I can't find her. We also had someone from Hawaii. It would be nice if she could get someone from each State.

Jeanette, YOU will have a special place on the map...across the ocean. That is very exciting. She has Hawaii, I know, from a friend of my son in law. Canada is special too. OFF the map is wonderful. Don't we have a member from Australia? This is as much fun as FLAT STANLEY. If you posted before, they've given you a star on the map. The little flags have stars on them...so you're earning a star for your city/state. Thank you soooooooooo much everyone. I noticed there weren't many from down East, (which I think is UP East, for some reason...(grin).

Thank you thank you... and pray for a heart. She's getting weaker and the docs keep "plugging the holes" as fast as they can..and then another one pops up. Love,NancyB

Carolyn..Krissy was initially diagnosed with Viral Cardiomyopathy at All Childrens' Hospital when they lived in Bradenton! Don't forget to list your STATE on the notes, everyone. They don't have an "atlas" up there. (grin). Thanks again...just checked the Guestbook and you guys really stepped up to the plate...in HIGH STYLE!
  6.
Nancy B, I just added "Down East". I actually is "down" since in the old sailing days, with the prevailing winds the boats sailed down-wind (with the wind) to get to Maine from Boston - thus "down east".
  7.
That is so odd. Since Maine is the northernmost Eastern State, it took me back when I'd hear Down EAst was UP east. We lived in Newport RI, when my husband was in the Navy back in the Eisenhower days. I believe Newport was his "summer white house".

Curious about your opinion on the proposed health bill. I think I have your email address on Facebook. If I can find it, another doctor friend of mine (retired) wrote an interesting viewpoint on what needs to be done with Healthcare. Not political here!..just an interesting subject ...and obviously, something needs to be done to make healthcare (particularly for Alzheimer's and Autism) available in the way it is needed for these folk.

Nancy B, my e-mail is in my profile. Also on Facebook, I think. I haven't really figured out how to use that so only check it about once a month. I'd like to hear what your doctor friend thinks. I have some ideas, but no firm solutions.

    I just sent mine.

(grin) Joe, she's almost in your backyard. She in the Medical City Dallas Hospital!!! They said it's absolutely wonderful and the care is exceptional. Thanks for your note. n.

Nancy-we lived in Bradenton for many wonderful years. Is All Childrens in Jacksonville?
  12.
I knew that, Nancy, I wanted her to know that there was someone who cared that lived very close to her. Yes, they do have a very good reputation there.

All Children's Hospital is in St. Petersburg, FL. Wonderful facility there for Pediatric Medicine.

Alabama is on there. I receive her post every day and she is on my prayer list. She is a beautiful young lady and really has that fighting spirit. Nancy, I hope you are feeling better.
  14.
Nancy, you know I send her a message daily....she's probably getting sick of me, but my star is on her map, and she remains in my heart! I'll continue to post in her guest book daily, and I'm lifting you ll up in my prayers! Much love to you all!
  15.
...and she loves your posts. When she told me how special all of the posts were, she said, "And..Diane Vail writes a note EVERY DAY...she's awesome!!!"......... You are, indeed!

sent my post in awhile ago...I read her update every day...Praying hard that she gets a transplant soon....
  16.
Nancy, my doctor had an interesting comment (not opinion) on health care costs. His sister who lives in New Zealand was in an accident and needed an MRI. The country of New Zealand--population 4 million--has two MRI machines, one on the south island and one on the north island. In our town of 20,000 they are in the process of installing the third MRI machine. And we wonder about health care costs!!!

UPDATE: Krissy is still holding on, waiting for a heart transplant. She has had some rough days. Increased Dialysis has been necessary, and she has had a tough time keeping any food down. She''ll continue to have pain until she receives her heart transplant, which makes it really hard for her to get rest.

Her U.S. Map has given her so much joy! Thank all of you sooooooooooo much. A part of her Journal Update today is copied below. She needs a few more states so she can say she has had prayers from every state in the USA!!!

If you know anyone in any of these states, would you help us fill her map by asking them to send her a short note - To Krissy... from one of Grammy's friends...

From her Journal:....Our dad did report that we still need prayers from the following states if possible: Montana, Wyoming, South Dakota, Nebraska, Ohio and Nevada. We are very grateful that Idaho & Delaware received stars recently! Our map is a success. Krissy enjoys telling people when questioned that every star represents a city / state where someone is praying for her. If you have entered a guest book comment from one of the above states, and we missed it, please forgive us. With several different people staying with Krissy, it can sometimes be confusing!

    Thanks everyone!! Love, Nancy (Grammy!)

I fired an email off to a friend in Nebraska and Nevada, so she may get those states covered.

I sent an email to my son in Ohio. I think he'll probably respond.
