I just recently found this website and think it's the best one I've seen. I've read some of the blogs and you are well read and well informed caregivers. I am a hospice social worker and now do education and information for staff members in a varity of care settings and for families of persons with dementia.
My Dad had Alzheimer's and Vascular dementia and lived 3+ years beyond my mother who was one of the 50% of in-home caregivers who die before their LO with dementia. My siser and I than began to care for my Dad and eventually placed him a a remarkable care facility in Ann Arbor.
My speciality are is dementia and hope that I can be of help to some of you.
I guess I should have spelled checked before posting this. It should read: "... and eventually placed him IN a remarkable care facility in Ann Arbor. My speciality AREA is dementia..."
Welcome, social worker, I'm glad you found this site and hope you'll recommend it to spouses of those w/dementia. It's been very helpful to me--hb has vascular dementia.
