I'm a college football fanatic. Number One, of course, is Clemson University. Clemson won their game today. Their game wasn't telivised this week but will be on next week on ESPN. I did watch the University of Georgia Bulldogs (Dawgs) ..unfortunately, they didn't win. DIL is so sad. She's an alum of GA. Now, I'm pulling for Alabama --- Roll TIDE!!, They are ahead of VA Tech 27/17. All of my whoops have kept DH alert. Poor guy couldn't doze off if he had to. He loved football before, and by golly, he's gonna watch it this year too. I'm not about to let him lose interest in his beloved Clemson Tigers!!

We dress Tigger in a Tiger Paw jersey or bandana around his neck, I make sure Foster is wearing his lucky orange socks and we both wear Tiger Paw shirts on game day. (Now you know why our dog is TIGGER!) I sing out the tune to the jazz number, "TIGER RAG" over and over, and DH just sits in his chair and smiles a little. He has been a huge Clemson fan for his entire life..his father and brother also attended Clemson. Go Tigers! (Nancy)

Who do you cheer for? Any other football fans out there??

Not die hards but cheer for our local teams: Oregon State Beavers and Oregon Ducks. When they play each other, I root for whomever is the underdog!!

We are University of Texas Longhorn and Texas A&M Aggie fans -- one son a Longhorn alum (life member), season tickets, kids baptized in orange -- you name it. (Just kidding about the baptism part.) Other son is an Aggie fan.

DH is a UT alum, his house was decorated in UT decor when we married. One of the first signs of the dementia was his sudden (professed) hatred for all things UT. He bad mouths everything they do but like tonight I found him watching the post game coach/player interviews on local TV. (Game was not televised except for pay-per-view which we don't have.)

Son, wife and baby granddaughter attended the Rose Bowl game when UT won 2005 National Championship -- we have the most adorable pictures of her in her cheerleading suit at age 7 months!

They are here this weekend for opening game (we won) and baby grandson attended his first game -- he's 9 months old! Bonus for me is we built a guest house last year and I get to spend time with them all through football season.

When UT and A&M play each other, I root for both and feel so bad for the losing team.

Yes, Nancy, I LIKE college football!!

Tonight's game was a nail bitter. DH could not follow the action on the field and would leave the room during the most exciting part. Ol Don, I was glad to see LSU win. Now that should make you happy. Our good friend, Mick, was an LSU graduate and I know he was up in Heaven watching the game. And, yes I like college football...

We don't watch much football unless the Patriots are making it to the superbowl. As for college football, my wife went to Penn State so we keep track of how they are doing and watch if they are in a special game. I remember many years ago Penn State was playing Alabama. One thing I notice was the Alabama coach, Bear Bryant, pacing up and down the sidelines smoking a cigarette. I wrote him a letter about being a role model for the youth so he should not smoke on TV. I got a reply from him thanking me for my comments and saying he would try not to smoke when he was on camera. He was trying to quit.

As a side note, Joe Paterno has been coach at Penn State since my wife was there as a graduate student. She graduated in 1954.

Isn't anybody else watching tennis? US Open is going strong. Saw a young American girl (Melanie something) beat Sharapova yesterday. Great match. Nadal is on right now. DH is watching it.
Great thing about tennis is that DH will watch it for hours although he never knows who's winning. I also have some games taped and can play them when I need to keep him occupied. He always thinks it's real time.

Jeanette, obviously I did not get the tennis or golf gene. Those are like watching paint dry. Basketball and baseball only need to be watched for the last 2:00 minutes and last inning, respectively :)

Right now my very favorite player Kim Clijsters is trying to beat Venus Williams. Dh is refusing to go to bed, just dozing on the couch claiming he wants to watch it all.

As an alum, I'm a UCLA Bruins fan. We won yesterday!

Diane, I was wondering where you lived. California?? Thank you for all of your posts to Krissy. She mentioned you to me specifically!!! She said you were so sweet.
  5.
How about that young 17 year old tennis player from Atlanta, Melanie Oudin!! Couldn't believe she won yesterday...and cheered her on as she did! She's really good!

ya I watch the "screamers "....if The big Willaims sister is playing she was born here in Saginaw as was Stevie Wonder,Madonna about 20 miles away

Our youngest son is an "athlete" at the University of Georgia. He is a star on the Ultimate Frisbee team. We went to Clemson to see him play this past spring- what a beautiful campus. So I guess you could say we are big Bulldog fans. Son will be taking hubby to a football game this season- I'm looking forward to them spending the day together.

We have been working on one of our rental properties this week-end and I'm ready for a break. Today we will be spending the day watching tennis, hopefully Melonie Oudin & Johnny Isner will upset their opponents today.

Nancy B - I am a home-grown Southern California girl. We live in Ventura County, 40 miles north of LA, in a beautiful little beach community. I wouldn't know how to live anywhere else! Also, I try and post something in Krissy's guest book everyday. I'm glad she's hanging in there! I'll continue to keep her in my prayers!

ol don......I am dressed and waiting.......Got my Bama shirt on...Where are you? Didn't you invite me to the game today? Looks like we will be late for the kick off. It is going to be a nail biter type of game. Personally I am scared to death. Hope you enjoy the game but just for awhile. "Roll Tide"

Since I graduated from San Jose State University, I don't follow college ball, 'cause the Spartans are no UT or USC. Besides, college ball makes no sense, since there is a complete turnover of the team every 4 years, while pro ball is more stable, with just rookies, retirements, trades, and injuries to deal with over the years. More fun to follow the team that way. IMHO.

I know...I watched it. We won too but it was a very stressful game. Ol Don was probably seating on the 50 yard line with a young blonde.

Wooooooo Woooooooooooo. Bama, You must be estatic, with Alabama beating LSU..tee hee. Clemson tromped Florida State, Arkansas beat South Carolina, Georgia embarrassed Tennessee Tech..and Univ. of Texas won their game. Did any of our member teams lose (except for your LSU guys..tee hee) Clemson and LSU are huge rivals..so I'm prejudiced. Sooooorrrry.. Great day for College football. whoop whoop.

I'm not particularly interested in football, but --- here in the Big Ten - I went to University of WI, DH went to University of IL, DH and son went to Indiana, and I taught at Purdue - so which school do we root for. I do follow basketball. Then it's clearer to me - WI first, Illinois second, Purdue third, and Indiana (remember Bobby Knight) fourth. Today, WI beat IN - that's good!

I prefer Pro football and I only like certain teams! DH was happy yesterday Ohio State was on TV and they won. Some weeks he is miffed if OSU isn't on TV. He goes in his bedroom to watch the game so I don't have to listen to him hollering. At least it is quieter than if he is in the living room. lol

I'm sorry Penn State lost. Joe Paterno is a class coach.

Jean21...you wouldn't want to be in the room with me either watching a ballgame. I get so excited - and my DH used to...(before).. I clap - woo woo - shout "go go go". or "stop stop stop HIM!".or NO NO NO!!..and our little dog thinks all the commands are for him. He runs around doing every trick he knows and wonders why I'm making him do all of those things. Football season has to be over soon or he'll need a doggie shrink to clear his brain!

Thanks, Dean. It is a little lonely watching the game. DH can not follow the action anymore. He missed going to the games only a few times when they were out of state and saw all the home games for 50 something years. I hate this disease
  15.
Yeah, doncha know. I had Foster all dressed up in his Clemson Orange shirt and orange socks... and he just sat there...staring straight ahead. He'd look amused when I'd jump up and yell go go go... and I did a lot of it just for Foster's benefit.

I had fun with my son and dil this past two weekends in a row. Son is military, so they really enjoy the military football games. Now dil grew up in Ft Smith, AR, and her dad lived just over the state border into OK. We watched the South Carolina v Arkansas game. She is a Razorback through and through. I've noted she has several Razorback shirts, lounge pants, etc. During those games (OK or AR) she is on and off the phone with her relatives in AR throughout the games.
