I AM ACTUALLY LOOKING FOR SUNSHYNE AWHILE AGO I HAVE CORRESPONDED WITH SUNSHYNE ON THIS SITE ABOUT MY DH WHO IS DIAGNOSED FTD/EOAD, MY HUSBAND IS A VETERAN OF THE VIETNAM ERA /GULF WAR. BECAUSE MY HUSBAND HAD MULTIPLE ISSUES WITH HIS HEALTH I STARTED A CLAIM WITH THE VA CONCERNING HIS FAILING MEDICAL HEALTH . TODAY I WAS NOTIFIED BY MAIL THAT MY HUSBAND HEALTH IS 70% SERVICE CONNECTED DISABILITY. IF ANYONE IS SEEING SIGNS THAT IS NOT RELATED TO AD AND YOU ARE A VETERAN MAKE SURE YOU START A CLAIM. I WENT ON THE VA WEBSITE AND LOOKED UP GULF WAR SYNDROME AND IT WAS UNBELIEVABLE WHAT I READ. THEY ARE NOT ONLY COMPENSATING MY HUSBAND BUT ME ALSO.
IF I CAN SHOW IN HIS MILITARY RECORDS ANYWHERE WHILE SERVING HE HAD ANY ISSUES WITH MEMORY THEN IT WILL BE INCREASED.

    angelb,

I filed for disability for my husband a few years ago and he was turned down due to the fact that they cannot find his records to prove he was in the field. My husband was in Viet Nam and in contact with Agent Orange. Since my husband's memory is not the best, he cannot remember anyone's name from his squad, so we are out of luck. He had a VA diagnosis of PTSD, then he was diagnosed with bladder cancer and then FTD.

I think Sunshyne now posts on the alzheimer association board under a different name.

deb, start with militarylocator.com and see if you can find info there. On there you can search for military buddies. If you know what unit he was with, you may be able to find some there. Google: look up army (or navy, marine corp, etc.) buddies and sites will come up. Also, try google or yahoo groups.

    Charlotte,

I'll give it a shot. Names would be hard because even before FTD he was horrible at remembering names.

I didn't have my husbands friends name as well or anything else, but if you go on the va website online and order his discharge papers by using his social security number you will be redirected and then if you know which branch of service he was in army, marines, etc they will located it with ss and birthdate you can sign for your spouse which i did because of being next of kin it came fairly quickly and then i also ordered his medical records which my husband was in the army for 22 years that took like 60 day to come in ....in all it was work the year of waiting. Good Luck if you do kn ow how to start contact your local VA office and they can order everything you need just tell them you need to start a claim for disablity compensation.

I will have someone read all his medical records looking for any brain trauma as well during that time which will help me make an additional claim for the FTD /EOAD
