UPDATE FROM HER FRIEND, TUGG HILL, ON FACEBOOK: I just talked to her for a minute..she sounds much better, but hurt. She is at the U.V.A. in Charlottesville, Virginia and the only info i have is she is in 6 East Room 102B and should be released the 1st part of next week. Hope t...his helps with some info for her Dear Friends concerned about her. I will post more as i hear from her. She has her cell phone..you might get her, you might not...
I'm sending wishes for your total recovery, Jen. Keep doing what the doctors tell you. I've had horses, and much as we love them, we can also get hurt.
I had a nice conversation with Jennifer this afternoon. She was thrown from her pony who was bucking wildly and landed on the hard surface in her arena. She's basically destroyed her right elbow..and smashed her left thumb badly.
She had several surgeries this past week and one more is tentatively scheduled for Monday on both her elbow and thumb. Right now the elbow is being held together in some kind of mesh. The orthopedic surgeon found one piece of bone he cannot even identify - so doesn't quite know where to put it back in place. She was very very sweet and sounded extradordinarily upbeat considering that she is basically "hog-tied" as we Texans say. When she comes home from the hospital, (possibly the end of next week) her mother will come and stay until she can "do for herself". Right now, she has a cast on her left arm to her elbow and the right arm is casted as well.
Typically a horse lover, she made a strong point of saying the accident wasn't the fault of her horse!! Either something bit the pony or maybe she just wanted to "play" in the cool evening air so she began to buck. Jennifer is so appreciative the posts I read aloud to her from Facebook, and said her daughter is bringing a little notebook computer to her tonight. Her daughter has been very supportive and she was proud of her for 'stepping up to the plate' and taking charge of things so well. She even accompanied her father (in Jen's place) to the hospital last week. The accident happened on Monday which precluded Jennifer from going with him. She said her daughter was doing an excellent job of coordinating everything, getting a phone to her dad and being there for both of them. God Bless Our Daughters Everywhere...!!!!
Jennifer has one bone in her left elbow she is using to operate her nurse's call/TV remote in bed..and when she gets the computer, she will type with her toe or with a stick in her mouth, but she's determined to get back "on line" as soon as she can.
Bless her heart, .. she has broken so many bones in her body. I would hate to see an x-ray. She must look like a hardware store inside. She truly appreciates all of your kind words. Nancy
Thank you for the update Nancy. Poor thing, hope she can get her surgeries behind her and start to mend. So glad her daughter and mom are helping her out!! ((hugs)) Jen
Thank you Nancy for the update...I was wondering how Jen was doing...I am glad her Daughter and Mom will be there to help...Yes Bless Our Daughters!! Prayers are with you Jen...Hugs
I`m so happy to hear Jen`s daughter is steeping in for her and bless her mother for all she is doing for Jen, hope she heels well and can get on with her life. My love to Jen and her family. Gail
This is Jen's daughter, Ariel, typing for her! She asked me to sign in for her (she's sitting her dictating!) and let everyone know that she is ok and that she really appreciates everyones good wishes. She talks a lot about this website and I know that it really helps her a lot. Thanks so much for being here!
I didn't think Jen would be able to type with her big toe! It's times like these that we realize how grown up and capable our grown daughters can be. Thanks Ariel.. I'm glad you're there, too. (Nancy)
Ariel, tell Jen we love her and I am so glad you were there for her. Our daughters are so important to us and I know I couldn't get along without mine.
Thanks, Ariel, for helping your mom at this time. You love and support will help her towards a speedy recovery! Hugs to you Jen! We'll be here for you!
