Yay! The doctor just called. No blockages. No problems, except that I'm out of shape aerobically. Well, I could have told them that. I haven't been in the gym in at least 5 weeks because my knee hurts so much. When we move, I can go to water aerobics, get the knee fixed, and then get back on the treadmill. And Weight Watchers. And when I get back into Memory Walk shape, I can walk to Bluedaze's house, which is just down the road a bit from my new villa. Maybe a mile.

I'll put the kettle on. I think that will be one long mile-have to time it when it gets cooler
  2.
Joan, I'm proud of you because you have goals. Without goals, we have no goals to meet and nothing every gets accomplished. Just be careful to not overwhelm yourself.

    Mary!!

But Susan-you love Maine so much. How could you ever handle sitting by the pool in Florida in February knowing that back home everyone is snowed in

Doesn't anyone want to move up to Virginia and live in the beautiful valley with me? I have some land I could sell ya. We could be neighbors (and you'd be the most loved grandparents in the world, cause your next door neighbor would have PONIES!!! YEAH!!!). Wow, what a DEAL to have neighbors like that (bluedaze), Joan! geez.

I'm trying every day to make goals for myself even if I don'wanna. For the last two days, my goals were to do something to make me happy. Then, I come into a stone-cold sobbering, silent house and the wind comes out of my sails. GOTTA get back into my studio. Maybe take on a couple of students. Joan, I'm glad your tests were good. A while ago, I was having what my doc called "carotid pain" (?) and I had to have some tests run. I'm fine. My own problem (from pain) is coming from all the metal that's in my jaws, eye orbits and neck! At least that was good to know. When you get settled in, you'll probably be in pretty good shape! I've noticed that every time I've had to move, all that activity and anxiety has dropped pounds off of me and added muscle! Take care. (and thanks) Jen

Or an old fashion dress up with hats, Tea Party!
  6.
For the past two years, I've been threatening to have a real party for just women at my farm. Remember the stupid 'virtual' fourth of July Party I had here? Well....like that, but with just with girls and women that I know. With a theme.....maybe gypsies, or A " Mid-Summer Night's Dream" theme. Costumes and all. A pot luck, with a fire pit glowing, movies on the side of the barn, a great music system, fireflies, we could go in the barn if it rained. It's a dream of mine. Maybe this year.

As the first serious storm is brewing we could have a hurricane party. When I was stocking up for the last one I included lots of chocolate and wine. Our security guards are still talking about last year's wine/pj party. That's when the flood from just rain made all our ponds overflow so the water was knee deep all over. A bunch of us wanted to make sure everyone was safe and we just went from house to house with our wine glasses picking up more people as we walked (or sloshed). This was at night in the very dark! Did I ever tell you how much I love my community?

Stunt girl, with all the people on this site that own campers and motor homes, if you offer your place as a stopping off place, bet you'd get some takers. I know that you live in beautiful country.... regardless of the season. I love the snowy picture of your house with the horse in the foreground.

JUST LET ME KNOW WHEN YOU'LL BE ARRIVING......I'M VERY SERIOUS. EVERYONE IS WELCOME HERE. I DON'T CARE WHO YOU ARE OR WHERE YOU'RE FROM, WHAT YOU BELIEVE!!! I NEED YOU!

Joan, et al: Just saw some hot shot physical teacher sort of guy on TV telling the world that the worst thing we can do is cardio-exercise. Stop all that running, etc. You won't lose weight, etc. He explained it all scientifically, altho he didn't have to explain the details to me, just the advice was enough to make my day. It's chocolates on the couch watching TV from here on out. I won't argue w/the experts.

What they guys was talking about is that cardio-exercise is not good for loosing weight. It increases hunger causing many to overeat and it does not burn as many calories as strength training. What happens with cardio-exercise is that often people will build tone muscle under the fat and not burn the fat. I am that type of person. I use to bike 100 miles a week - built muscle underneath but never burned the fat on top.

He did not say cardio was bad cause it does get your blood moving. But for weight loss, it is poor. We have heard a lot that strength training/muscle building is what will burn calories.

Remember, too, that the heart is a MUSCLE and cardio exercises strengthens the heart wall, which is a muscle!
Huge athletes weighing over 300 pounds often have strong heart muscle, because of their cardio work outs. I have an enlarged heart, subsequently, the muscle wall of the heart is softer and thin. My heart does not pump blood throughout the heart as well as it should. :-( (Ain't that just the pits?)
