There is a sacredness in tears. They are not the mark of weakness, but of power. They speak more eloquently than ten thousand tongues. They are messengers of overwhelming grief...and unspeakable love. ~ Washington Irving
I believe that imagination is stronger than knowledge - myth is more potent than history - dreams are more powerful than facts - hope always triumphs over experience - laughter is the cure for grief - love is stronger than death” ~ Robert Fulghum
"When you are joyous, look deep into your heart and you shall find it is only that which has given you sorrow that is giving you joy. When you are sorrowful look again in your heart, and you shall see that in truth you are weeping for that which has been your delight." -
And ever has it been known that love knows not its own depth until the hour of separation. ~ Kahlil Gibran
That was rough.... Thing to do now is try and forget it.... I guess I don't quite mean that. It's not a thing you can forget. Maybe not even a thing you want to forget.... Life's like that sometimes... Now and then for no good reason a man can figure out, life will just haul off and knock him flat, slam him agin' the ground so hard it seems like all his insides is busted. But it's not all like that. A lot of it's mighty fine, and you can't afford to waste the good part frettin' about the bad. That makes it all bad.... Sure, I know - sayin' it's one thing and feelin' it's another. But I'll tell you a trick that's sometimes a big help. When you start lookin' around for something good to take the place of the bad, as a general rule you can find it. ~From the movie Old Yeller
Spinning on the tip of the Lord's mighty finger, seeing only the brightness and joy of his face, not the gathering clouds over, nor the pecipise under, nor the mocking darkness of stoney rocks around can threaten me, I Believe..................................
"to live in this world, you must be able to do three things: To love what is mortal; to hold it against your bones, knowing that your life depends on it; and, when the time comes to let it go, to let it go......." Mary Oliver
"Just when the caterpillar thought the world was over, it turned into a butterfly."
My Dad always told me this quote when I was going through difficult times growing up. I have always loved it. Now that he is gone, it means even more to me. Every time I go to his grave, there has been a yellow butterfly....
Read the Shack. Really disliked it. Now the rest of you will need to read it to see who you agree with.
Read this on a card yesterday - a quote from a college president at a graduation - "Go forth and do well in life, but more importantly, go forth and do good in life."
"The greatness comes not when things go always good for you. But the greatness comes when you're really tested, When you take some knocks, some disappointments, when sadness comes. Because only if you've been in the deepest valley can you ever know How magnificent it is to be on the highest mountain." (Richard Nixon)
If a man does not keep pace with his companions, perhaps it is because he hears a different drummer. Let him step to the music which he hears, however measured or far away. -- Henry David Thoreau
Upon hearing I was losing Lynn to this devastating disease, a dear friend sent me this quote from Jonathan Livingston Seagull, by Richard Bach.
"When we have conquered space, all we have is here. And when we have conquered time, all we have is now. Surely, amongst all of the here and now, don't you think we'll meet again?"
"It's so curious: one can resist tears and 'behave' very well in the hardest hours of grief. But then someone makes you a friendly sign behind a window, or one notices that a flower that was in bud only yesterday has suddenly blossomed, or a letter slips from a drawer... and everything collapses." ~Colette
