Last week Holly our loveable mutt, had surgery to remove a beign tumor on her leg. Her recovery has been slow and painful as it was on her "elbow". This morning while preparing her pain meds & anti-biotic, (covering them in peanut butter) Jelly our 14month old kitten (part goat) ate the beef flavored pain med. While he was licking his lips I was running barefoot, to the car to rush him to the animal hospital. They have done all that they could, but do not have much hope that he will make it through the night. I am crushed and filled with guilt, feeling that if I had been more cautious, I could have/should have prevented this. I know what a piglet he is, but never expected him to move THAT fast. The vet has been on the phone with me and the phamacutical company dr throughout the day, but as of 5:00 it looked like his kidneys were shutting down, barely producing any urine inspite of the IV fluids they are giving him. Our vet said that if Jelly survives this, we should nickname him, Miracle. So please pray for a miracle, we have had enough loss in our house. Our little bundle on trouble has always provided us much needed laughter and his brother Peanut Butter is searching for him. Thanks, Susan and family
Stuff happens, Susan, you can't be everywhere watching everything at the same time. I hope the little guy makes it, then he'll still have eight lives left.
It's NOT YOUR FAULT. I've never had cats, only dogs, and I know for sure that when there is food around that they like, they are like lightening that cannot be stopped. We're all pulling for both of your dear pets.
Oh Susan.......my heart goes out to you....BUT you know it isn't your fault.......You love your animals. That is why you were trying to give the med to your dog! I'm praying for a "Miracle" for you and your little Jelly. Please keep us updated!
Jelly made it through the Night! Our vet just called and said he had peed and was dumping out his litter box and looked like he was going to poop! She has to call me back because he was also trying to take off his bandage! Now that's my Jelly. Not out of the woods yet, but still trying! Thanks for all the prayers, maybe we will have a miracle.....................
Oh, this is WONDERFUL news! You go little Jelly! We need some good news and maybe you will just give it to us! Hugs and kisses to Jelly.......Please keep us up to date, Susan!

Hi Jelly. Mom has to type for us bcause she won't let us on her new lap top. We are Dennis and Meeko and have been quite concerned about you. Glad you're feeling better.
Well, now I'm in trouble for not sending get well wishes from Mikey and the rest of the critter crew here. So sorry, Susan and Jelly. My bad, not Mikey''s. Let the progress continue! Get better and go home soon.
Jelly, you are in my thoughts and prayers. I'm so sorry that you won't be able to visit my house with Peanut Butter when you get well, but my big oaf of a white lab would think you two were squeeky toys! I'll have to pet you by long distance!
Oh what the heck...my name is Chase and I don't particularly like cats but I have been pulling for Jelly. (my mom said I had to.) PS I am a yorkie and my mom is cs
Today at 1:00 Holly will have her stiches out and then I will bring JELLY Home! We will not know if there is kidney or liver damage until blood work is done in 1 week, but he is acting up and giving therm trouble, that's my Jelly! I stpped in and gave him kisses last night, he looks good. Oh how I wanted to bring him home. I will have to give him injections of IV type fluids for a week. Thanks for all your prayers, I will keep you posted. Love Susan & Jelly
Jelly is home! He is on two meds to prevent stomach ulcers and needs to return in a week for bloodwork! Meanwhile I took Holly's head collar off in preparation for going to get her stitches out and within a couple minutes had licked open parts of her incision! Bad Dog! So now she has to continue to wear her ConeHead and let the open wound heal. The vet suggested Preparation H to help bring down the swelling, lol! He said a VERY THIN layer would help. So now I owe the vet $25 dollars a week for the rest of my life. At least they were agreeable to that and my babies are home where they belong.
Welcome home Jelly! I took Katrina to the vet today for her annual & rabies shot. In the bathroom was a framed needlepoint that said:
Dogs think they are human Cats know they are
Such good news Susan. Katrina sends her well wishes to Jelly, and after giving her a good talking to, to Holly too. p.s. Have heard Preparation H is used for beauty of the hands, it makes the hand veins shrink.
Jelly is doing well, so far. Keeping our fingers crossed. Prep H has been used, in the Beauty World to shrink under eye bags too! Haven't tried it myself, but maybe I should, lol.
Noche sends his best wishes to Jelly. I'm glad Jelly is better, too. Although I didn't read this until the excitement was over. Hope there are no residuals from the experience. Blessings.
Mawzy we won't know about residual effects until bloodwork is done on Friday. Holly is upset with me for not mentioning that she is beginning to feel better too. :o)
Just looked in on Dylan, he is sound asleep with Peanut Butter in his arms and Holly with her head on the pillow next to him. Diego is sleeping peacefully with Jelly at the bottom of the bed. Talked to Jim, no pets, but he was content and heading to bed. So this tired Grandma, Wife, Daughter, Mom and Caregiver is heading to bed.
