This is not a comment on the situation that started this thread. It is a general safety comment for everyone.

When in doubt, CALL 911. The one time I called 911, it was a false alarm, but the EMT's told me that they would rather go to 100 false alarms, than NOT be called to one where they could have saved a life.

If you are looking at a situation and wondering if you should call 911, it means you SHOULD CALL 911. This is what our tax dollars are for, to prevent a potentially tragic situation.

I have gotten absolutely no work done today, because I have spent the entire day fielding e-mails and trying to put an end to this. I have asked again and again to please post directly to Stuntgirl's blog. I have very good legal reasons for it. It has nothing to do with me or anyone else being meanspirited. I have a behind the scenes situation that requires this situation not be handled on this public forum.

I currently CANNOT respond to your e-mails because my e-mail is not working properly. When my "outgoing" e-mail is working again, I will e-mail everyone.

I do not think you should close Stunt Girls' post. I re-read it and she deserves to write her feelings down ... It helps to VENT as we are welcomed to do. I agree with the words Phranque spoke. Lots of others have vented, just as bad. Are we focusing on past episodes. She needs us more than most people on this site who just chatter about non-AD issues. Have patience...and sit with her. Like many of us, she's totally alone and we're all she has. I do not have family closer than 250 miles from us. I do not have a close friend to call. Just you guys. Walk in my shoes and you'll see a huge picture of what being "ALONE" is really like. I still remember standing in the street the night my husband lay on the garage floor and all the houses were dark...and I didn't have a soul to call to help me get him up. Yet he was shouting DO NOT CALL 911!!!!!! Your mind goes blank!!! and you do foolish things sometime.

I have stood in the back grsounds here for a while. I have several times when you all get into it with each other. I think some people just need information. Why all the personal attacks? I'm sorry, but I dont understand all this carrying on. I have a question about profusse SNOT, but I'm afraid of posting my own concerns. No fever. Just constant nose running. Sneezing. Never had allergies, nothing here has changed. No threads about this. I have had times when I've wanted to call 911 but didn't with other issues. I agree that 911 calls are reserved for life or death issues. My opinion.

Hi junebug, there have been some comments about profuse snot (ugh) and I'll see if I can find them and bring them to the top (ttt) for you. Believe they will be buried in other topics. Your opinions, like everybody elses, are valid even if some don't agree with them.

My DH experiences this when eating -- at least he did until the dr gave us a Rx nasal spray for it which he refuses to use. I have joked that it seems to work just sitting on the shelf in the pantry because since we got it his problem has greatly resolved.

There has been a LOT of legal and medical advice requested and offered on this message board. I have benefited greatly. Unfortunate petty jealousies and malevolence have influenced how people choose to respond.

Joan, if managing this board is too big of job perhaps you should delegate some responsibility or give up some of your other endeavors.

These boards are monitored and advised by professional social workers, psychologists, and lawyers. There are situations behind the scenes that that are confidential and not for publication. Joan has repeatedly stated that there are legal reasons for all actions taken.

Stuntgirl's posts have caused more friction, bickering, insults, polarization, misunderstanding, misinterpretation of meanings and motives, and hysteria by her and various members than has ever been seen on this website. The advisors have issued her a suspension for a couple of weeks to allow a TIME OUT for everyone to calm down.

Under no circumstances will sarcastic, nasty, hurtful, or mean spirited comments be allowed by her or anyone for any reason. They will be deleted.

Joan has also repeatedly mentioned that you can offer Stuntgirl all the support you feel she needs by posting on her blog.

Thank you from The Alzheimer Spouse Monitoring, Legal, and Mental Health Team

Phranque's "let's be nice" post was one of the finest I've read; I was disappointed that he deleted it.

As for calling 911 - where do you live that they say they would rather have false calls? Anywhere I live they say the false calls, non-emergency calls often keep them from going to calls that are emergencies and people suffer because of it.

I will not call 911 unless really, really, really necessary. I do not have finances to pay for false calls. I do not know where you live that your tax dollars pay for the ride to the hospital ER, but here they do not. They may pay some for the EMT from the fire department to come, but the ambulance ride to the ER is charged (contracted out by the county to a private company) and that can run into a few hundred dollars - money we don't have. I dread ever getting into a car accident because of the ambulance cost. Auto insurances doesn't always pay the full price.

When my husband cut his finger 3/4 of the way thru the knuckle, I drove him to the ER where we sat in the room for 3 hours before they came back to irrigate it, wrap it and send him home telling him to call the doctor (gave him a name but the VA did not cover him) the next day. They did not see it as an emergency since the bleeding had stopped. It took 10 days before they reattached it - in the meantime it was just wrapped.

As for someone to talk to: I would never have thought of calling a crisis line to just vent and cry. New idea for me to consider for in the future.
