I just received an e-mail from Amazon that "The Anti-Alzheimer's Prescription: The Science-Proven Prevention Plan to Start at Any Age (Paperback)" by Vincent Fortanasce, M.D., is now available for pre-order. It was the "Science-Proven Prevention" part that got me riled up. It really is not fair for me to make comments about it before reading it, so I will read it. Has anyone heard about this author or this book? From what I can gather from the review, it's the "eat right, exercise, exercise your brain formula" that we have heard before.
If anyone does want to look at the review, I put a link up on the right side of the home page.
Haven't heard of this author or book, but it sounds like many others out there. What they neglect to say is that lifestyle changes really can't prevent the disease, but they may give one more good years before the disease hits. Saying it's a formula for prevention sells more books!
It just makes me angry to see garbage like this being published, clearly just to make money for the author and publishing company. Maybe Divvi can file a class-action suit against them for deceptive advertising ! LOL
The thing is that people will do this (it's good anyway), they statistically won't get AD, and they'll think it was because they ate right and exercised-- so it WORKED. For those who do it and still get AD, it can always be said they didn't stick to it 100%. My review: *(*&^%$#@$!&*)*&^.
All one has to do is look around a memory/alzheimer care unit. You will find research scientist, athletes, neurosurgeons, astronauts, ditch diggers, pressman, reporters, nutritionists, doctors, lawyers, and the list goes on. People that lived healthy lives, ate healthy, used their minds, etc. - all hit with this disease.
A book just to make money off of people hoping for a miracle.
