I found a picture the other day of my husband and I and some friends at a picnic in the late 70's. I had on short, short, green shorts and a halter. I was 21 then--my daughter said OMG mom you look slutty. LOL

Now IF I wear a swimsuit its one with a tankini and a skirt---longer the better :)
  1.
Vickie are you from Fl? or a different Singer Island
  2.
Lived in Fl most of my young life! From Gainesville, to Miami, Orlando, Ft. Myers, Ft. Lauderdale,Boca,Singler Island - you name it I've probably lived there. DH and I met in Ft. Laud., married in Naples, lived in Ft. Lauderdale, until he took me north to Cleveland,OH. Then he retired and we are in KY. Went back to Singer Island a few years ago - sure is different! The yacht club is a condo now! Things do have a way of changing. This was just before Dh's dx =- and he didn't remember living there. So said - was such a good time in our lives.

WAHOOOOOOO! 7LBS THIS WEEK! I just keep picturing what I'd look like in a bikini and it keeps my mouth shut, lol! Let's keep it going, having my best friends doing this with me is inspiring me. (Plus with the 2 boys, and driving an hour to see DH, who has time to eat :o)

Weejun, I bought my tickets, see you there!
  3.
Congratulations Susan. You did great. For me, it will be keeping on, keeping on. I hope to eventually drop a dress size. Today was weigh in day but I missed it because of a hair apointment. Next Monday will be D-Day for me.

I just now looked at this thread and I have agained a lot of 'alzheimer's weight'. It has been tough because I have turned into an emotional eater. I think I've been derperssed. However, I decided to get my life back and I decided to try Jenny Craig a few weeks ago. After 2 weeks on their program, I've lost 8.5 lbs. It is just a start but it feels good for now!

Huh, I thought the secret was to re-adjust the little wheel that you set to make sure that the scale reads "0" when there is nothing on it.

Referring to Deb's "short shorts" and a halter, I have a bathing suit story. On my honeymoon, when I weighed 112 lbs, which is now the weight of my "tush", Sid took a picture of me in a two piece bathing suit - not really a bikini, but pretty small for the year 1970. I was tanned, toned, and 21 years old. Fast forward about 30 years, and my son was looking through some old pictures and saw Mom in the little pink two piece. He wanted to know if someone had "photoshopped" my head onto someone else's body. He was taller than me, so I didn't smack him.

Good news, it's not our fault we're overweight. That is, if we've been eating lots of Chinese food.

    MSG causes weight gain ! ! ! I KNEW I shouldn't have been putting it in those brownies ! ! ! !

I just returned from the orthopedic doctor. He has diplomacy down pat. He said that my weight was not helping my knee, but it wasn't that I was overweight. It was just that I was too short for my weight. Gotta love that guy!

You're lucky Joan. My ortho has a black belt in karate and thinks everyone is overweight-and doesn't mind telling them!

    marygail,

I'm only an expert "in theory". I never follow any of the lessons I learned, but the behavior modification rules are that if you KNOW nighttime loneliness (or whatever it happens to be) is going to trigger a binge, you're supposed to find something else that you like to do that will distract you and give you comfort. Since I'm assuming a "pool boy" isn't an option (LOL), "they" recommend a good book, a hot bath, a hobby that engages your mind and hands - jig saw puzzles, for example.

As for me, I never engaged in any hobby or activity that couldn't be handled with a chocolate in the other hand, and two in the mouth.

I had 2 week weigh in today at WW and only lost 1/2 pound. Going to have to seriously look at what i am eating. I thought I had been doing pretty good and the previous 2 weeks I lost 5#. Going to have to get on the ball or older daughter is going to get ahead of me.

marygail, can't you manage to secure for yourself a good-size cat that wants to spend its evenings on your lap, and which you are reluctant to dislodge? That has kept me from many an intended snack. (-: Have a hug.

A scale is that ugly thing that sits behind the door in the bathroom and develops hairballs and dust bunnies

I don't have a scale. If my pants can't be buttoned or fall down, I know I'm in trouble. Right now, they fall down, so I just tighten the belt some more and keep on eatin'. Sorry.

    My scale is broken.

    Really.

Somehow I keep forgetting to buy a new one.
  11.
I really hate to do this to you all trying to lose weight - but I'm so happy I had to tell someone! Been trying to gain back the weight I lost over a year ago - trying to get back to 100-104 - my normal weight. This morning I hit 100! I knew my clothes were fitting better and thought I looked better but hadn't weighed in awhile.

So,....TJ - just keep eating - you'll gain it back but it may take awhile.

Vickie and TJ, go to CostCo and get the Brownie Bites. I guarantee you you'll gain more than the weight you want, in no time flat.

    <drool>
  12.
And after you two eat the Brownie Bites, stop by Diary Queen and get a Peanut Buster Parfait, or a Hot Fudge Sundae, or just a large ice cream cone.....<drooling just thinking about them!>

My scales wants to be my friend, so it shows my weight (digitally) 3 pounds below what my doctor's scales show. <sigh>

I can vary 5 pounds either way in a day....right now I don't have the mental capacity to even try to lose, but I'm making certain I don't gain either!

I wish all of you well and hope that we all achieve the weight we want without difficulty and in the near future!!!!
  13.
Ditto Mary. I have been on both ends of the scales so I know being underweight is heartwrenching also. When I was in high school I weighed 107# at 5'3" and that was before being slim was popular. I looked like a starving person.

With the help of pain meds I got on the scale, I think I lost 2 lbs for a total of 7 in 2 weeks. We'll see tomorrow. I am on prednisone for the inflamation and that causes wicked munchies, aghhhhhhhhhhh.
  14.
We don't have CostCo around here. Does Target carry them? I do love brownies...and blondies...and redheadies.
  15.
I'll bet you do, TJ! Look in the frozen section at your supermarket where the pies and cakes are - there are brownies there too! Ummm good!
  16.
Thanks Vickie, I'll go note that on my shopping list right now!

This thread is at least making us THINK about our situation. Either overweight or underweight and even some just right. Keeping the issue in front
of me with encouragement from you others is a big help to me. I just hope I can adjust things so I will start losing 1/2# a week for a while. Let's
    keep working on it.
