John finally made the move to a brand new facility. We've been waiting for 3 months for them to get their state inspection. It's quite beautiful and the rooms are spacious compared to the other home he was in. There were a few tears from us as well as the staff when we left. I was surprised to see John get misty. It didn't seem like he really comprehended what was going to happen. I spent several hours with him this morning and will go back shortly. Twice a day is a snap now that the distance is only 6 miles. At this time there is only 4 residents in the Alz. wing so he is getting plenty of attention. At capacity there will be about 37. I did learn something about medicaid today...they do not cover pullup diapers like depends. If you want them you have to provide them. Thought that was strange. I'm off to see how John is settling in. Take care all. cs
((cs)) I am so glad to hear about the new facility, it sounds wonderful. I hope your John has a peaceful transition. So glad he is so close to you!!! About the pull ups.....hmmmmm, I wonder why the nursing home hasn't charged me for Lynn's? I assumed they were being paid for by medicaid. Best of luck!!! Let us know how tonight goes :)
My husband wore pull ups at home furnished by Medicaid. They are using diapers at the facility even though I took almost a full case of pull ups with him. I think it is because he is in the merry walker and it is easier to change him standing up and not having to take his pants off to get the pull ups on.
ehamilton, yes the tab diapers are easier to take on/off while standing or laying down. they usually just cater to what the call 'adult diaper' and they are a generic form that fits most. as long as the AD person doesnt figure out how to pull the tabs so they dont stick:) they are ok. my DH figured it out early on so the pull ups are the only kind for him now. divvi
