As I was typing the question I had to stop and think of what I wanted to ask. My husband is now in protective underware mostly all the time. What brand have you all found to be the most dependable? I realize that maybe two sizes are best at night for the most protection but if I may ask what brands have you found the most dependable?

Sally-sorry for your reason but good to see you posting. Can't your husband's hospice give you some ideas. Hope the crack in the bell is letting in the light.

Walmart's store brand seems to work very well and probably are the most cost effective.

i use the new mens depends brand two at nite and a booster pad for extra leak protection. the serenity is excellent but i have to look hard to find them sometimes at target or walmart. divvi
ps sally, with any protective underwear you buy make SURE his 'appartatus' is pointing DOWN in the diaper to avoid more leaks.:)

I agree with divvi I like the Serenity, but can't find it often. The Depends for men don't fit my husband right, but the Walmarts do, and they're cheaper. Depends with booster pad, then flannel pj pants, then a disposable pad, large size, over a quilted pad held down with a beach towel. With luck the last couple don't get wet every night.

I agree with Divvi and use the depends (for men), along with a peel & stick TENA pad, regular length. These come 36 in a pkg and CVS has them on sale this week for $9.99 a pkg. I don't like using the serenity/TENA mens underwear because they don't fit my DH well...he has VERY skinny thighs and so the serenity/Tena brand underwear don't "hug" the leg like the depends brand does.

    Cute, Phranque :-)
For night I use Depends briefs with the tape tabs. Inside that I use two booster pads, and over all that I use a Fred Meyer brand overnight pull-up style extra absorbant. I have a flannel rubber-backed mattress pad under the bottom sheet. On top of the sheet I have a washable plastic-backed pad that goes all the way across the bed. On that I use a washable smaller plastic backed pad. Still he leaks out during most nights and don't know what else I can do (other than maybe wrapping duct tape all around him). During the day I use the Fred Meyer brand pull-up with one booster pad inside. He poops in them at least once, sometimes twice a day so gets plenty of showers and changes. He will NOT sit down on the toilet to poop any more no matter what I do, and only will pee in the toilet when I completely undress him...sometimes.

Sally, somewhere on this board (some time ago) there is a lengthy discussion of incontinence issues. I seem to remember that near the middle of that discussion is a more thorough discussion of products and what has worked well for various members here. I will see if I can find it and bring it to the top for you.

natsmom, Be careful who you tell that your friend is getting the items from the base. Your friend could lose the shopping privileges if it gets back to the wrong/right person.
