Good lord, just when I think I can finally breath...BAM! DH has had a serious heart condition for 2 years, and he requires and echo cardiagram every 6 months. 6 months ago his doctor discovered a thoracic aortic aneurysm, 5 cm. (this is a bubble in the aorta). They decided to watch it, and started him on meds. We had his 6 month checkup today, and got very bad news. He has converted to Atrial Fibrillation, fast, irregular heart beat. This can significantly increase the risk of stroke. He has a benign tumor in his brain (meningeoma)that was supposed to be "inconsequential". The normal course of treatment would be blood thinners, and an angio gram to check for further damage. Well, he can't take the blood thinner due to a possible brain bleed due to the tumor, and he can't have an angiogram at this point because he only has one kidney, and the contrast dye they use can cause kidney failure. His cardiologist is coordinating with all his other docs, neuro, PCP, etc. to see what the best way to proceed is, and how quickly they can proceed. When I asked what the bottom line is, he looked me straight in the eye and said "Dave may die". SHIT! I felt like I got hit by a truck! His cardiologist is working at warp speed to try and get a plan together, we have 2 days worth of testing at UCLA on the 27th & 28th, and hopefully a resolution at that time (most likely surgery). In the mean time, if you could all keep us your thoughts and prayers, we can use them. Dave is on almost complete bed rest at this point, not to over do himself. Many thanks for listening, God Bless. ~Di
Diane, that's really not OT. So sorry to hear your bad news. I hope the doctors can come up with something for Dave very fast. Sending positive energy your way for Dave and a hug for you.
Diane- Life is a journey that takes us to many unexpected places, but we are all here holding your hand and shining the light for you. You are in my thoughts and prayers, and i pray for wisdom for the doctors.

OH, MY GOSH, DI, I JUST HEARD from you last evening via e-mail and everything seemed FINE! How unexpected! I'm sorry you're having to deal with this. My heartfelt condolences....it's good you have some family to help you some. My prayers are with you, too.
I posted this right before I went to bed last night. What a wonderful surprise to wake up and find all these messages. Thanks so much to all of you! I truly don't know where I'd be without you. Thanks again! !Di
Oh Diane, you are in my prayers. Sending positive vibes your way. Is there anyway you can move up the appt. Call daily for a last minute cancellation? Keep us posted. Arms around, Susan
Thank you all for your generousity and your prayers. They are appreciated more than you can know. There is no update at this point, he's sleeping most of the day, which is good, I think, and until he has the tests done on the 27th and return to the cardiologist on August 3rd, we won't know anything. Thanks again all of you!
