I just reread my "Trying to Leave" thread from start to finish, for the 1st time. I was reminded that I made the decision to leave before the house sold. Just so you know, those of you who patiently held my hand from start to finish, the move was successful. Knowing that the movers were coming (he even helped me tie the "Do Not Park" signs a few days ago), he left & played tennis. Not at all concerned with what I would take or not take. We were pulling off as he arrived home. The only mishap was that yesterday morning, the movers called & talked to HIM, asked if he needed the big truck, & he told them no. So I had to leave behind a few boxes & one garden bench that couldn't fit on. I can go back in my station wagon & collect those few things.

Katrina has adapted well (hasn't met Felix the dog yet, he's upstairs, she's downstairs.) I think what helped was that all her familiar furnishing are here & she can smell that. She ate, drank, and used her litter box. I opened up the door next to my room where the boxes are being stored, oh boy, she thought she had landed in an amusement park. Lots of new things to jump on & explore. So my worries about her are over.

My son called this morning & asked if I were sad to leave the house. I told him no. I've gotten over it, and if all goes well, that house would no longer be there for me to live in anyhow.

I want to thank all from the bottom of my heart for your gracious support, concern, advice, and loving comments. I was amazed at all who did my hand holding, hope I didn't leave anyone out!

Now you must take a deep cleansing breath and don't worry about anything else for the time being. Focus on regaining your strength. For the first time in a long time, it can be "all about you". You may feel a little 'let down' after a day or so, because you've been on this treadmill for months. It's to be expected. The still after the storm, so to speak. Just ride it out. I cannot imagine how it must feel to have it all behind me. Take care of yourself!

Kitty, hooray!!! I am so glad for you that you've been able to execute your plan and achieve your independence. That's wonderful. You've come such a very long way. After all you've been through, keeping peace between Katrina and the 'hua will be a piece of cake. Big, big hug.

Oh Kitty, I'm so glad everything went relatively smooth for you and Katrina! This was such a huge undertaking, I truly admire you for making a difficult decision and seeing it through. It must feel wonderful! You're an inspiration, and I hope all goes well in your new home. I'm betting that Katrina and Felix will get along well enough, and you will all co-exist in blissful harmony. Congrats, girl! You rock!!! :)

Wow, I'm so glad. I haven't been here in a bit as I've been "experiencing" my respite, but have been thinking about you and your move and had to get on here to see what happened. So yippee....happy independence. I'm honored to have shared this journey with you and the team!

Terry, hope your respite was relaxing as well as getting some of the work accomplished. Thank you very much for your post.

I forgot to mention, the day before I moved, my husband sold his treasured Little Red Riding Hood sterling (childhood) bowl on Ebay for $540. He said it was worth much more than that, "but he needed the money." Glad I got my sterling out of the house, you never know.... But also relieved that he now has that $540, the $400 from his trading account he had forgotten about, and the $150 I gave him. He'll now have money to live on prior to the closing. A light bulb blew in the bedroom, and he freaked thinking the electricity had been cut off. He said he had paid the (past due) bill. I had to reassure him it was just a bulb.

I called yesterday, but he didn't pick up. Wanted to let him know I was coming to pick up the rest of the boxes. So I emailed him, asked if he wanted a hair cut when I came today (he won't get it cut, unless I cut it), and he wrote back, yes, he wanted a hair cut. So good, things are still "pleasant." And he won't look like a mad scientist when he goes to the closing. I am still amazed he didn't stay to supervise the move. I had been dreading that. Either he trusts me (and why shouldn't he?) or he just doesn't care because he'll have "all that money" when the closing goes through. Either way, it worked out well.

He's never been one to pass on anything free. So maybe the hair cuts will be my entry on keeping up with his status of well being.

Thanks very much briegull. Went to pick up a garden bench today at the house. I had also left behind some serving dishes that I am fond of for buffets. Didn't realize I had left them, and my h pointed that out to me. He also found the piece of wood that the movers had chunked out of my bed. We actually laughed together, I can't remember the last time we did that. I really can't. His mood has lifted, because it looks like the closing on Wednesday is actually going through, and my mood has lifted, because I no longer have to worry about his credit problems. (Hopefully) He asked me to come back on Tues. in case he can't get all of his stuff into 4 Smart Boxes, to load up my station wagon & store for him. Sure, no problem. Peace.

I love you all, too funny. Thanks one & all. Yes, I feel very peaceful, at last. And now since all is going well, may find this is a better situation for us & for me to help out when needed. At least I know he will want his haircuts, that went very well. I'll be able to check on his surroundings and status that way. Seems we are communicating better since I left. I am gratefully surprised.
