Was there a thread back 5-6 months ago about the smell that comes from our LO's? I seem to recall there was but it wasn't a big issue with us then. My DH has the most awful body odor, even after he bathes. I have tried all sorts of liquid deodorant soaps and I do not use it sparingly...he looks like a big soapy bubble when I finish squeezing the sponge filled liquid soap all over him. He uses deodorant, everything! His pillow has the same smell, too. I put it out every week in the sunshine to freshen up.
Is it just him...or do others have this same odd, 'old person' smell? Is it this way with most older people, or perhaps only those with AD?? It's quite off-putting, and I feel bad for him ( and for ME!!!) because I know he can't help the way his skin smells. Maybe some of you can help me with this issue. Any hints?? I've tried everything I can think of.
nancy there was a topic. some meds cause these odors too. if he is physically clean its from inside the body where its emminating-some colon issues can cause backup smells- maybe a teaspoon of vinegar in salads to clear it? hah. vinegar does work.. if the digestive tract is ok. divvi vitamin C ? divvi
I, for one, am VERY interested in following this thread. Truly, if ANYONE has any suggesstions on how to control this "old man" smell, LET US IN ON IT!! John has an aid that comes to bathe him every other day if I need her. If he doesn't cooperate with my own every other day efforts to get him bathed. How about Acidophelous? Any other dietary products? I've stuffed dryer sheets in crevaces in my car to control bad smells, but I can't do that to John!! HA! Can you see me doing that? (don't laugh, I MAY, next time we go out)
Nancy, I brought that topic to the top for you, and I am going to move these comments there. If anyone wishes to comment, please do so under the old thread. Thank you.
