Farrah was a close friend of my 1st cousin. When my cousin lived in Aspen, Farrah would visit her often. I have a photo of her from my cousin's wedding. (She was taller than I expected.) I watched the special on TV of all her efforts to beat the cancer, it was really tough to watch. She was just 62 years old.
She will be missed. She was a very talented and courageous woman. She had a rare cancer that is hard to beat. My prayers go out to Ryan, their son and her friends/family.
Because I watched my mother die a slow, painful cancer death, I could not bear to watch the documentary, but I did see snipets of it. She was a very brave woman. I hope the record of her struggle that she leaves behind will help others.
Susan L - you echoed my father's words as we left the cemetary all those years ago - No more pain. No more pain.
I hope Farrah's family gains some comfort in knowing that she is at peace now without pain.
i just think it's so sad her son was in jail and couldn't spend the last days with her. Of course, he's there because he defied the law, but still............. Couldn't he be under 'house arrest' under the circumstances. So sad.
I am no Michael Jackson fan (except when he was a child with the Jackson Five) and am sad that his death is getting so much attention (like when princess Di died) and Farrah is getting just a casual mention.
Tics me off that Fox and CNN are doing nothing but run the news of his death. Enough is enough. Reminds me of when Elvis died - but then I liked Elvis.
Here it is day two and still all the news channels have Michael Jackson. Guess it is a break from the state of our economy and politics.
I did see a little on Farrah last night but not a whole lot - disappointing. She made some good movies - Burning Bed and the one about Diane Downs. Can't forget Charlie's Angels, which while good really did not show much talent for any of them. It was a deadly week for Hollywood - add Ed McMann to the losses.
NBC Dateline last night had a 2 hour show about the two deaths. Michael Jackson was the first hour and the second hour was on Farrah Fawcett. It was nice to see they gave her just as much time as Michael Jackson.
They say bad things happen in 3's. So there you go. I was not a fan of Michael Jackson's music...but there is a generation or two that went wild over him. I believe I heard his "Thriller" album outsold any album in history. He made millions and millions of dollars (blew it all) and was, I suppose, an Icon in the music industry. I was surprised to hear that Farrah was only on Charlie's Angels for 1 season..and she did make the other two TV dramas. I don't think she was really an actor's actor. She was in the news, but usually about her personal struggles, and she was very cute. Ed McMahon's last years were also filled with strife over money problems. He had a wife ( much younger) who was known to spend a hundred thousand dollars on shopping sprees, - can you imagine??
Sorta nice to be among the 'simple folk', - considering the problems facing the 'rich and famous'.
