I don't know what made me try after so long, but I tried logging in from work today, and it worked!! I can post. yaaaay!

The boys and I are preparing to move into our new house on Sat. It's been a long haul!! I've been on pins and needles over the past week waiting to get a date/time for the closing, which is Fri. at noon. Our lease runs out at the end of the month. Now I'm going through the packing up stress again, 2nd time within a year! But this is the last time!! yeah!

DH was weened off the Parkinson's meds and has had quite a "transformation". He's gone from barely speaking at all to talking nonstop! Of course, I can't understand most of what he's saying, but it seems to make sense to him. He looks at me instead of staring ahead. He has tried standing up, but fell (fortunately, he was ok). And he tries to take the cup from the aide's hand when they try to feed him. He's more alert than I've seen him in many months. It's like a switch has been flicked I guess. Now they want to give him Trazadone at night because he's very restless. I let them give him 25 mgs but I'm holding off letting them up it to 50 until I know it won't have negative affects.

His brother sent me articles on FTD and Pick's Disease. We both agree that is a more likely diagnosis than AD. It doesn't change the outcome, I know. I still think there may be a genetic link between his brother's Muscular Dystrophy and DH's neurological problems. It seems unlikely that the two boys in the family (2 sisters are ok) would have neurological problems that are, or in DH's case, may be, genetic. Their parents didn't have any neurological issues, but DH's nephew also has the MD. I have a genetics specialist running tests and banking DNA for the future. I need to know how this could affect the boys.

Anyways, I wanted to check in. I hope I'll have internet access more quickly after this move than the last, but we're moving to the "boonies" so who knows? At least it looks like I can post from work now. My commute to work may be a little longer, but we'll be a couple of miles away from my sisters, which will help a lot with the boys. The last few months have been very stressful, to say the least!

    I'll keep you posted.

    Hugs,
    Kelly

Nice to hear from you Kelly. Jim has FTD, probably since 1998. DX's in late winter/early spring of this year. Now slipping into stage 5 of 6. Our dx came from a contrast PET Scan. Their are variations of FTD. There is a list of symptoms & stages on this site, search under: STAGES OF FTD. Welcome back, S

Sorry, I don't remember anything about your move. Why are you moving?

Thanks for the welcome back, everyone. I hope to post more often.

Joan: Sorry, I haven't checked my email in awhile. We were planning on moving even before DH went into the NH. We finally sold our house last October and moved into a rental house. Now our new house is finished and we're moving again, but I've been going through h--ll waiting for the closing. We're supposed to move tomorrow morning, and the mortgage company still hasn't sent the paperwork to close. Our lease on the house runs out of Tues. arrrrrrgh!! I could really use DH's calming influence right about now. He was always around to calm me down when my anxieties went sky high!

I've wanted to get the boys out of the city for awhile and where we're moving is about 1 1/2 miles away from my sisters, so I'll have more access to help with the boys (daycare costs were getting to be too much!)

Anyways, it's good to be back.
