A nice thing happened to us today. We went to the car place - the dread Check Engine light came on. Somehow I've never stopped going to the dealership with our Subaru, even though they now carry Kias instead of Subarus, it's the same guys who know them. Anyhow, I took my husband along since I had no idea how long it would take. We got there at 9:30 and left at 3:00. My husband sat quietly and watched tv; they had wi-fi so I was happy, and we only had an occasional little old lady in the waiting room with us. But around lunch the service supervisor came out and started talking to us, explained stuff to me and then really tried to carry on a conversation with L. He wasn't condescending; he knew the score, obviously, when L. started going off into not making much sense at all, but he was very polite and sweet all along. So for him, I say THANK YOU! People can be nice when you don't expect them to be sometimes.
My dh loved to go to McDonalds. I took him there every day and he always ordered the same thing- 2 double cheeseburgers and a senior diet coke. Once as I got to the pay window, she just motioned us on. When I got to the second window, he handed me my food. I explained that I had not yet paid and when he checked, he told me the car in front of us had paid our bill. One of those random acts of kindness that was truly kind!!
A big thank you to the lady visitor at the nursing home who took time out from visiting her DH to have a conversation with my DW, she was very kind and understanding and treated her with great respect. She was a fellow caregiver and we were able to step into each others shoes for a few minutes..
