Was wondering if you or your spice have ever tried this??? I bought a 6-pack 3 days ago- he has had 3 of them. This morning he said his knees seem better. don't know if it's just in his head but it's a small price to pay for his seemingly "comfort".
I looked it up, but can't find a nutritional label on it . Vickie, can you tell me the sugar content, carbohydrate content, and calories? Sid is a diabetic, so I have to be very careful with those labels.

I'm sure that a lot more than you wanted to know! It doesn't taste bad and I think I'm going to start drinking it too. Don't think it would hurt anything for me or DH.
Their website elations.com does mention something about diabetics - can't remember what now, about checking blood sugar. But this doesn't have that much sugar in it.
My ortho guy says to use Osteo Bi Flex, it's the only Glucosomin & Condroitin Supplement he'll use. So know we'll se if it works, the other stuff didn't.
divvi many vets are using glucosamine for dogs. Since yours are smaller than my cats I'd ask your vet about dosage. Your dosage will be on the bottle. By the way-Walgreen's often has it on sale-BOGO
My Goldens have been on Glu/Chon for over 5 years -- they and I share the HEB store brand. My little Golden Cat, Dagwood, takes Cosequin for Cats. I get it at 1-800-petmeds and it really does help him. It comes in a capsule and you just sprinkle it on the food.
Divvi, my little dog has an ACL problem in his knee. Our vet told me I could give him one baby aspirin (an anti inflammatory drug, of course) if he was in pain. He weighs 15 pounds. I just checked on the web and it said that if the dog weighed less than 3-4 pounds it could be toxic. How big are your little chihuahuas? I bought the quick dissolve tablets. When he is limping on his back leg, I would rather give him that than a steroid shot or pill.
Be sure and check with your vet before you give a baby aspirin to your babies.
A great many zoo animals are geriatric - because of PETA, etc, they have to be careful about getting young animals from zoo sources, so a lot of them are still alive from the last big general zoos expansion in the late 80s/early 90s. Many of them take glu/chon. (we say generally that most wild animals live to be 20 years old, older for elephants and reptiles of course)
In our zoo rainforest building we had a couple of prehensile-tailed porcupines, Julia and her daughter Spanky. THese look like regular porcupines except for the tail, which balances and holds them to the trees. Before they started the g/c on Julia she could not get herself up her tree branches at all. After it, she really was just like Spanky, all over the place. She eventually died, but had several comfortably active years thanks to it.
So when I gave it to my first Golden, I started using it too. I have almost no arthritis except in the damnedknee, which was injured when I fell on it years ago. And which, thanks to the synvisc, is behaving nicely at the moment.
But my husband doesn't take it so I'm going to pick up some Elations and see if that helps.
The Elations is either helping my DH - or he thinks it is. Whichever, is okay with me. He is walking better, however, and for that I am thankful. And no complaining every night when he goes to bed about his knees/legs hurting. So---I'm going to try it too.
Try your chain grocery stores - but it's in the pharmacy section. Haven't tried Walmart but I'm sure the carry it. DH hasn't used his two knee braces yesterday or today!
thanks nancy. i give melted baby aspirin in eyedropper with food too. my female is 11lbs. and male is 8lbs so they are ok. she is the one limping due to overweight needs to be max 8lbs! whoo... i need to cut down on snacks for ALL of us. :)i many try the glucosamine reccomended too. chihuahuas have the acl knee issues too. divvi
