I'm very excited this morning. I will be driving about 3 hours to see my sister in Columbus. We speak everyday by phone but I haven't seen her since Christmas. After we spend Fri. night at her house we will drive together to Lexington Ky. to see her son play in a baseball tournament. 3 hours of face to face conversation with her is going to be great. We will spend Sat. night there and drive back to Columbus on Sun. Then I will continue on home. Now here's the rub. I haven't been away from John for more than overnight. With this being Fathers Day weekend I thought maybe I should stay home and plan a family get together. Then I realizied that it is time for the kids to step up. One son is staying at our place to look after things and take care of the dog. Another son and soon to be dil will see John each day at the nh and call me. I have not heard from Johns son and daughter for several weeks so if they see him on Fathers Day great if not it's their loss. I believe I have turned a corner on this horrible disease. I CAN do right by my husband and still have a life. Not the one I wanted but a life none the less. As to John...When I was leaving the nh last night I told him the plans for the weekend. He smiled and said "ok." So really dear friends, why not? cs
What a WONDERFUL post! We do have to eventually find a balance in our lives. I am so happy for you. Enjoy your weekend, As my Mother's plaque says, "Sit Long, Talk Much, Laugh Often!
Sounds like a wonderful weekend! Your relationship with your sister is also very important as is your well being. Just picture your husband's smile and enjoy every moment. How the children spend Father's Day is their problem....they have to live with their decisions.
The road trip was a success. I went swimming, sat in the hot tub, ate bad food and stayed up late. I'm tired but happy and looking forward to seeing John this afternoon. Thanks for all your encouragement. cs
cs...I saw on the local news that the temperature in Dayton, Ohio was 87 degrees. I know how bad the humidity can get in Ohio but I hope the weather was kind to you and so glad you enjoyed your time away.
Thanks Phranque and Jean21. It was 94 degrees in Lexington Ky.! Sunburned knees and nose but who cares. My nephew pitched 2 good games. They are playing in Akron in 2 weeks and I plan to go. That's only 45 min. away so no 7 hours of driving. I went through a period of restlessness and boredom when John first went to the nh. I now understand that I have a choice. I can sit home and mourn the life we should have had or get out there and do something. I'm gonna do some things. cs
I'm so glad you were able to go and enjoy yourself! I'm also happy that you have decided to "do some things," and that is the first big step you needed to take for yourself! I don't see the scores.....did your nephew's team win?
