During the night, my husband gets up, urinates on kitchen floor, kitchen cabinets, doors, bathroom cabinets, bathroom floors. I do have him go to the restroom at bedtime, I keep 2 night lights on in our bathroom, try to have all other doors closed. Should I put a Depends on him and just tell him to go? (He may think Depends are underware and just pull them down and still go). I do try to wake up at least 2 times during the night to toilet him. He never even remembers or knows what he has done. I am constantly cleaning and washing throw rugs. Any suggestions anyone?

welcome to our 'royal pee/poop society, Ckkgram! there are several of us who have been or are where you are now, and i know from first hand experience, its no piece of cake to manage this type incontinence issues. mine was where yours was about 6mos ago but since has moved into more incontinence issues and just goes in the depends -never thought i 's say that it's a very strange relief! not peeing all over the house, down the balconies, stairwells, carpets, drapes, garbage disposals:) everywhere but the commode. haha. there is a long topic of incontinence here if you do a search you will get alot of advice and suggestions. my first would be absolutely get him into depends asap. the pullup ones as the tab ones tend to fall off if they play with the tabs. those are good for bedridden i would think. next get a couple of small plastic garbage cans from dollar store to have 'handy' incase he whips it out unexpectedly and you can catch the overflow! hah. ask mary aka red! she uses this method too. i also was so weary of him messing the house up i made myself wakeup everytime he wanted a pee run to the bathroom to actually guide him there and watch him to be sure. even then they can pee all over the bathroom and walls. but better in there than somewhere else? lots of bleach soap cleanups when necessary. i also use a towel around the base of the commode to catch any dribbles when i can.
try to get his fluid intake early in the day and none after dark. it may help some. when they are still getting out of bed by themselves to urinate its a mess. you just have to be vigilant to make them get to the correct place asap to avoid all these extra cleanup jobs. i feel for you, i was there, but finally moved into a new phase, tradeoff is hes slipping but i have less work.. hang in there, others will have more advise too. divvi

For those who have hallways, would it be possible to get a child gate and put across the hallway so they are limited to the rooms they can enter at night? I would not put it on the floor, but raise higher so they would bump into it, not trip over it.

I have both found that keyed dead bolts have worked for this sole purpose of keeping them inside the bedroom with us and the damage is confined to this one room at nite. otherwise he would be out walking the hallways doing more damage. i can sleep better knowing he cant get out unless i am up. i would recommend getting these deadbolts with keys if its a problem them wandering. its given me much relief to know DH is safely secured for the pm.
