The Dallas Morning News has a very good article today on the PDP, Coverage Gap that I thought some of you might be interested in seeing.

I am $400 into the black-out, doughnut hole, coverage gap, or just plain BROKE time!!!! My LW Is just $300 away from it. Last year it was really tough on the ole budget. Apparentl there is a lot of discussion going on in Washington in the new Health Programs that could affect PDP as well as Medicaid.

I would like to hear your comments on this huge financial problem. bill

...[sigh]... Last year both of us landed in the donut hole. This year it will just be my husband since I'm off the asthma drugs that put me in the donut hole. But I could land right back in it if the asthma comes back again.

I'm getting near for both of us. But where will the money to close the gap come from (I mean at the government level)? Without the insurance we were paying a lot more than we have up to today, so we HAVE saved money. Unfortunately, raising taxes is a really hard sell for people, even if they'd only be raised back to the level they were ten years ago.

Have not hit the hole this year, as Hospice provides some of the meds (all comes from Medicare however). Last year Ralph hit it in May. Boy did that hurt for the rest of the year. Something needs to be done. Many cannot afford the cost of the meds. Sometimes it is a choice of food or meds. Should not be that choice.

Any of you remember the ad with Montel Williams driving the bus around talking about providing medicines for those who couldn't afford it? There are at least two organizations out there that does it. Try to google it. I found the info one time for a woman who could not afford her mental heath meds. Also, many pharmaceuticals have programs that provide free meds to people.

I used to buy a lot from Canada but quit after the new PDP. I am now looking into doing it again. I found one site that really saves a lot of money, especially for generics. Even found generics for Namenda, Aricept, Plavix and Lipitor. Have sent fax to Dr asking about these Generics that we cannot get in US>

Anybody know aboutt using Pharmacies in Canada or Mexico????? bill
