I met my husband 49 years ago on Memorial Day Weekend. He has no clue that this weekend was anything special.

    So bittersweet.

Happy 49th, Starling. It hurts but to whom to you complain and tell how much your feelings are hurt? Right here. We all know exactly how it feels--crummy.

49 years is a lifetime! How many of those years would you say were good Starling? Bittersweet is the perfect descriptor.

Happy 49th! You are so lucky to have had such a long life together. I hope most of them have been good. I met Jim on March 29th 2003 and married him on November 29th 2003. He was dx'd in March of 2009, but had not been well long before then. I began to notice changes by our 1st Anniversary.

shoegirl, we had good years and bad ones. We moved around the country a lot because every time he needed a new job the only way to get one was to move to a new city. It is rare to have two contact lens companies in the same city, and we did live in Rochester, NY twice as a result. <grin>

It has been a long marriage, and they said it would never last because we had nothing in common. Which was true by the way. <grin>
