mawsy, you need a trip to St Tropez France...everyone is naked there. grandmas, down to infants. you cant go on the beach unless you strip. my first trip i was mortified but slowly lost the bathing suit. top first -wasnt as hard as i thought esp with everyone else naked around me. the bottoms were quite a bit more of an issue. i stripped down as i walked the beach, and low and behold, met up with friends from home-NAKED as were they!!!! holys***--it was nervewracking so say the least.. (we never discussed it til yrs later after we saw them again and had a good laugh)- well all i can say is we decided to eat in the beach restaurant and everyone was eating naked..hahha.. i know, stay with me here. the waitors were naked with bowties. :) i got pasta and was so clumsy i dumped my bowl. you guessed in my lap. waitors everywhere were cleanng off the pasta.... skinny dipping is much better on the nude beaches overseas..hahah...go for it!!! divvi

phranque, just a word of warning. The water in Maine, particularly the ocean, is VERY cold this time of year and doesn't warm up much as the summer goes on. Still, I love skinny dipping in the ocean. We have a secluded shore which works well. One time my wife and I were resting on shore after skinny dipping. We noticed a sail boat approaching, so sat to cover the essentials. Then we saw the man in the sail boat drop down so only his head was visible. He was skinny sailing!!!!!

I would head to Maui and enjoy the warm sun and beach. If I felt like sight seeing, I would go back to Antwerpen, Belgium. I loved the architecture!

About those beach parties in the 40's you all wanted to know about.... We didn't have any formal parks or beaches. We just picked out a place that was unhabited and laid claim to it. We gathered up lots of driftwood and big a HUGE bon fire. And, yes, we knew all about making sure it was well away from the washed up piles of driftwood. We wouldn't have wanted to set a beach fire.

Anyway, everyone brought 'dogs', marshmallows, etc. You name it. Lots of soda and I think some of the rowdy boys brought beer. We turned the headlights onto the beach, turned on the car radios or had old portable wind-up phonographs and 78 rpm records (anyone out there remember those?) We danced barefoot in the sand, Played, laughed, made enough noise to wake the dead, did a little 'neckin' and a bit of petting...That's about it. I think I might have been a big disappointment.

Some of those parties got to be 75 people large. My date was a guy named Charlie. Wonder what ever happened to him. Oh, well....

I'd love to go back to Maui and go back up to the top of Haliakala. Would love to watch the sunrise at the edge of the volcano. It appears as though the sun is rising up out of the crater. It was an awe inspiring site. This time, not ex-husband though, lol. While I'm there I'd love to see Kauai, there had been a hurriacane and we were not able to go to the quiet island. I love the beauty and QUIET!

I would like to go back to Paris, this time with a female on my arm instead of touring with my best bud, a Naval Intelligence officer. I arranged to meet him there while I was in the U.S. Foreign Service in Geneva. Paris is for romance, not a fraternity brother! Also would like to ski beneath the Matterhorn again. Never been to Hawaii like my DW, but would like to see Maui and some warm sand and surf.

Would love to go back to Hawaii. We got married there a bit over 21 years ago. It was on the Big Island at the King Kam hotel, in the Emu Gardens. DH just loved to tell people we got married in the Emu Pit. He had an old college buddy that was a foreman on the Parker ranch. He and his wife took us up to their home on the ranch. It was cold and just like looking at a rain forrest. Twenty minutes later we were back on the beach and hot again. I saw the biggest cockroach there that I ever saw in my life. Had to be at least 6 inches long, maybe more. Oh, the memories :-)
