Marilyn, blowing his nose into cloth napkins was one of DH's early preDX behavioral changes. At first I'd give him THE LOOK but he'd ignore me. Then I'd give him kleenex before we went into a restaurant. FINALLY and at that point there were other annoying issues I asked him not to do it. I don't think until I read what you wrote that I ever thought this was because of AD. So many other annoying behavioral problems started occuring that that one faded into the background. Our marriage had become pretty depressing for me by the time we finally started looking for a DX.
So glad this was bumped up. I see a description of my DH in so many posts. He had such wonderful manners. Now, I've seen the nose blowing at the table, eating with fingers, reaching for someone's glass or cup, and the list goes on. I still take him out to eat and have found the easiest way is in a wheelchair. I try to get one in an out of the way spot. He enjoys eating out and I can't give that up yet...I just hope people will understand if they see him use fingers instead of fork. He normally wants water with his meal and coffee afterward. The water presents a problem because its clear and even when I position it and tell him where it is, if someone else has tea, he reaches for it. The last time we ate out, I order tea for him as well as water. That helped!!
