I guess I never expected to lose our important documents in our safe upstairs. Somehow my DH went into the safe and all his documents (SSN, birth certificate, passport, etc.) have all disappeared and he doesn't have a clue where they are. He can't drive anywhere so they have to be here somewhere. I'm just beside myself!

Check all jackets, suit, and coat pockets. That is where my DH likes to hide things. Sometimes it's between the mattress and box springs. He uses his cane to push his wallet into the middle of the bed.

Diane T everything can be duplicated so don't worry. If your husband is already on SS you can get his number. Birth certificates can be gotten from the place of his birth. Insurance info will come when the billing is due. I know it is frustrating. I can't find the deed to my house and that is my next project. I think it's a matter of finding the correct person to ask.

doneit, the deed to your house is easy to duplicate. Just go to records at your county courthouse and have them make you a copy. All you need. If you can't go to the courthouse, call them and ask them to make and send you a copy after you send them in a small copying fee.

Let's see????? Where did people find all the previous missing things?

Charlotte--Do you mean the travelling pajamas? I think my favorite nightgown (an Oscar de la Renta--almost new) has joined them. It is driving me crazy!

The pj's are still traveling....seems like they have found a few friends along the way.
  3.
I think the titles to two of our vehicles are with the traveling pajamas.

Lois-thank you for the deed info. See-I said it was just a matter of asking the right person.

I am so glad to know I'm not the only one dealing with this issue! Found many documents but cannot find the deed and land survey either. No travelling pj's, only underwear (can't find one black bra). Lost checks reappeared yesterday.....so many missing things, so little time.

my DH deed to home and original will have been missing since he lef his practice. then i found out the secretary sent a 'box' of important papers to his DAUGHTER at office closing. i think all the important things are in there but i didnt even know til a few months ago that she sent this box i have been looking for YEARS for it! the secretary hated me so she hid the stuff she knew i'd need to the stepdaughter.. another saga yet to have to deal with. yes doneiet deeds can be copied at court house and allt he important id's as well but its such a hassle.! divvi

I know where all our important papers are - in the safe deposit box at the bank. BUT - I have lost the key to the box. It will cost me $200 to get the lock drilled out. For the present, I'll just let things sit there and hope the key turns up.

Marsh, can you take a son or daughter or "attorney" to the bank and ask that they be added to your box access. They will add the new name and give a key to her/him.
