Jen, that reminds me of one year when my husband was living at the AD facility before I brought him home. They were giving flu vaccines to the employees and the 6 residents. I said that my husband had never wanted the flu vaccine before he was diagnosed and I wasn't going to start now. Well, lo and behold...everyone in the place got sick except...you guessed it, my husband.
New Potential Health Risks of the Swine Flu Vaccine Emerge
Just last week I reported on the confidential correspondence between the British Health Protection Agency and 600 neurologists, warning them to be on the lookout for cases of Guillain- Barré Syndrome once the swine flu vaccine campaign begins.
I’ve published earlier articles about some of the more dangerous ingredients in this vaccine, such as mercury, and squalene, which has been linked to the development of autoimmune diseases like rheumatoid arthritis and lupus.
Now, German lung specialist Wolfgang Wodarg has come out about even more potential health risks associated with the swine flu vaccine. Interestingly, Dr. Wodarg also holds political office, as the chairman of the health committee in the German parliament and European Council.
According to Dr. Wodarg, the swine flu vaccine contains animal cancer cells, and there’s no data indicating whether or not this may cause an allergic reaction when injected.
It also raises questions about the risk of contracting cancer.
He also told the German press that the widespread fear of the pandemic was an “orchestration,” stating,
“It is great business for the pharmaceutical industry. Swine flu is not very different from normal flu. On the contrary, if you look at the number of cases it is nothing compared to a normal flu outbreak.”
More Documentation about Swine Flu Vaccine Safety
A recent article by Dr. Blaylock also highlights the many reasons why the vaccine may be far more dangerous than the virus. If you have interest in this issue I would strongly encourage you to read Dr. Blaylock’s article.
He states that the Baxter swine flu vaccine, called Celvapan, uses cultured cells from the African green monkey, which has previously been implicated as having transmitted a number of vaccine-contaminating viruses, including the HIV virus.
Likewise, Johannes Löwer, president of the Paul Ehrlich Institute, believes the side effects of the vaccine can be far worse than the actual swine flu virus, which typically causes only mild symptoms, requiring just a few days in bed.
As you may already know, the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) consistently claim the seasonal flu kills about 36,000 Americans each year. After investigating that figure, it has been found to be a gross exaggeration based on flawed data compilation, but still, the swine flu has claimed FAR fewer lives than the seasonal flu in any given year, and no draconian measures have ever been taken to curtail the seasonal flu.
Based on a rational view of the numbers involved, the widespread fear over the swine flu certainly appears completely unwarranted.
I’d also like to point out that even though the World Health Organization’s web site claims that there has been at least 2,185 deaths from the swine flu worldwide, stating that: “Given that countries are no longer required to test and report individual cases, the number of cases reported actually understates the real number of cases,” the truth is likely quite different..
Why?
Because some countries, such as Great Britain, are now recording any and all cases of flu as the swine flu, based on nothing more than an online questionnaire.
How would this practice lead to an understatement of the real number of swine flu cases?
Without laboratory verification, it’s quite likely that a very large number of these so-called swine flu cases are in fact cases of seasonal flu.

Now this is just one guy's research and publication about it. But he has an interesting statement which is: What most people do not know, even the doctors who recommend the vaccines, is that most such studies by pharmaceutical companies observe the patients for only one to two weeks following vaccination—these types of reactions may take months or even years to manifest.”
This is a major point.
If you were to develop an autoimmune disease years down the line, how would you ever be able to prove that your disease originated in a needle?>>
My question is, how many of the EOAD victims have had all the childhood vaccines or when in the military? They have long thought something in vaccines has caused the increase in autism, maybe even ADHD, so why not AD? Would officials or drug companies even admit it?
Art had the vaccines plus a bunch in the military. How about others, especially the EOAD? I have only had the polio and small pox vaccine, nothing else.
Thanks for the article, Charlotte. I, too have only had the polio and small pox vaccines. However, after getting the flu for several years straight, I started getting the flu vaccine about 10 years ago - and haven't had the flu since. So, I will continue to get the flu shot - not sure yet about the swine flu vaccine. Will probably get both for DH though.
I've just heard on the news tonight that the first round of vaccines here will only be for special risk groups like diabetici. I don't think we'll get it for DH; he's never wanted to get the seasonal flu shot although last year I talked him into it. But he has never had any flu since I've known him.
Yes, Charlotte, I hear your concern but: how many of the EOAD victims drank MILK? Almost EVERYONE was given the childhood vaccines (and drank milk) but only a relative few got EOAD. You say you only had polio and smallpox but what about DPT (Diptheria, pertussis (whooping cough), Tetanus)? Bet you did!
nope - my mom did not believe in them. She didn't believe in doctors either unless life and death. I only had the polio because they were offering it at school for free when it came out in sugar cubes. She objected but I did it anyway because I had a friends whose brother was crippled by polio. The small pox was required when I went to live with my sister in Maine for my freshman year, otherwise I would not have had it. When a dog bit me in the mid 70s, they gave me tetanus shot at the ER but I never had the rest of them (they recommended it since I had never had one). My arm was hot and hurt so bad for a week I couldn't sleep so decided then 'no thank you'. I have refused them whenever a doctor recommends them. In fact I have met many people over 60 who have not had them.
Several articles in the New England Journal of Medicine are online today. See the editorial at: http://content.nejm.org/cgi/content/full/NEJMe0908224 It says "Although the adjuvanted vaccines are not licensed and not expected to be licensed for the coming season in the United States..." The risk of the adjuvant has concerned me most, so I am considerably reassured that it won't be used this year, particularly as my daughter will be required by her school to get the swine flu vaccine. For a discussion of the risk of the adjuvant see: http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2331850/posts
When my husband has lucid moments we do discuss this type of thing (well at least for US it's discuss--DH has aphasia) and we did discuss extensively his wishes while he could discuss. He is not depressed, but remains aware of his losses and adamant that NOTHING be done to prolong the inevitable. When he had an allergic reaction to an antibiotic a few months ago, I asked him again if he wanted life-prolonging measures if his throat should close up. He insisted NO. I am respecting his wishes. THIS has been the hardest thing for me. I thought I would not have to make this type of decision/speak for him in this regard until the end. Now there have been several instances--drug reaction, swine flu vaccine, potential urinary tract/bladder issues that cause no pain or discomfort so we elected (with consultation) not to pursue invasive testing. But I think I've finally come to terms with that too = accept.
I am not sure the Swine Flu vaccine is necessary for us or our LO but I know there are a lot of people on this board in the situation I am with school age or college age children. This age group is at the highest risk for swine flu complications. My 18 year old son got the swine flu in May and was seriously ill within 24 hours. It was the last day of finals and they closed the dorms and he drove himself home (how I don't know) and I took one look at him and took him to the ER. It went immediately to his lungs and he was diagnosed with pneumonia in both lungs in addition to the swine flu. He recovered rapidly on the combination of an antibiotic and Tamiflu but it scares me when I think of what might have happened if he hadn't gotten diagnosis and medication so quickly. He is a healthy, active college athlete and it took him down hard and fast. I really recommend the vaccine for this age group.
I walked into a situation where I got my regular flu shot this week. I had an appointment for something else, met a woman I did not know going into the building who said she had just gotten hers and asked for mine at the Intake window.
So here I am. I have the shot. He does not. And they would not make flu shot appointments.
The doctor is convinced that seniors are going to be on the "at risk" list for swine flu this year.
It's hard. When I went for my regular checkup I was given the regular flu vaccine. He wasn't with me. I'm certain I can get the swine flu if I decide to have it but I'll wait for the second round. Apparently they've got double the number they thought bec. they will only need to give one dose instead of two. I don't know what I'll do either, for him.
Last night Dr. Andrew Weil was on Larry King and he said he would not be among the first to get the swine flu vaccine--he wants to wait and see if there are any undesirable side effects. I agree completely.
We will get both shots when they are available. Like Vicki, we have had the shots for the past ten years with an absence of the flu - which we used to get before the shots. Our systems are all different. I am not one that likes to take meds.
I am getting the regular flu shot. I am not getting the swine flu shot. I am not getting either shot for my husband. He has always refused the shot, so I'm not going to give him something he didn't want when he was himself. He never got the flu.
I got the regular flu shot yesterday, but DH absolutely refused to go into the Dr's office with me to get his. He stood outside with the bikes till I came back out. In two weeks we can get the swine flu shot (here it is called "Mexican Flu" since apparently there is no connection with pigs) and probably the same thing will happen again. I suppose I could get the dr's assistant to give him the shots later when we go in for his diabetes checkup, but he claims he has never had the flu-- and for once he is right, he hever has. So I think I can risk it. I never get the flu either, but for the first time I AM getting the shots since he absolutely could not cope if I were to get sick.
Jeanette - the swine flu name came from the fact that part of the DNA of this strain contains DNA from the swine flu that hit this country in 1972. That is part of the reason they say the older people have some immunity to it. That is my understanding anyway.
If we called it Mexican flu in this country, the Hispanics would have a fit and yell 'racist.'
I received an email from a friend who researched to find out how they are determining all these flus are the swine flu. She found that they stopped any mass testing the end of July. Since then they are assuming the majority are swine - H1N1 - flu. The question remains - do we really have a national emergency or are we seeing the flu season hitting earlier?
My DIL in PA reported last night that half the school is out with the flu. Grandkids don't have it yet. I just don't understand why they are giving us senior citizens the vacine and not the school kids.
Charlotte, the children who are dying are not dying from the seasonal flu, they all have H1N1.
And the reason we didn't have a "national emergency" in 1972 is that just about everyone got a flu shot that year.
And the reason the Y2K disaster didn't happen is that people like me found the bugs before January 1. And yes, I actually did find one in the mortgage reporting software that a lot of companies used to either service mortgages (which is what my company did) or originate them (which my next company did) or both. In October 1999 I found FOUR families that were due for their JANUARY 1900 payment. We had 3 months to figure it out and FIX it. Which we did.
Jeanette, My doctor is giving senors the seasonal flu vaccine, but NOT the H1N1. We are at risk for seasonal, but not for H1N1, which is what the children are dying from.
Very interesting! In 1919 when the flu killed 40 million people there was this Doctor that visited the many farmers to see if he could help them combat the flu. Many of the farmers and their family had contracted it and many died.
The doctor came upon this one farmer and to his surprise, everyone was very healthy. When the doctor asked what the farmer was doing that was different the wife replied that she had placed an unpeeled onion in a dish in the rooms of the home, (probably only two rooms back then). T he doctor couldn't believe it and asked if he could have one of the onions and place it under the microscope. She gave him one and when he did this, he did find the flu virus in the onion. It obviously absorbed the bacteria, therefore, keeping the family healthy.
Now, I heard this story from my hairdresser in AZ. She said that several years ago many of her employees were coming down with the flu and so were many of her customers. The next year she placed several bowls with onions around in her shop. To her surprise, none of her staff got sick. It must work.. (And no, she is not in the onion business.)
The moral of the story is, buy some onions and place them in bowls around your home. If you work at a desk, place one or two in your office or under your desk or even on top somewhere. Try it and see what happens. We did it last year and we never got the flu.
If this helps you and your loved ones from getting sick, all the better. If you do get the flu, it just might be a mild case..
Whatever, what have you to lose? Just a few bucks on onions!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Now there is a P. S. to this for I sent it to a friend in Oregon who regularly contributes material to me on health issues. She replied with this most interesting experience about onions:
Thanks for the reminder. I don't know about the farmers story...but, I do know that I contacted pneumonia and needless to say I was very ill...I came across an article that said to cut both ends off an onion put one end on a fork and then place the forked end into an empty jar...placing the jar next to the sick patient at night. It said the onion would be black in the morning from the germs...sure enough it happened just like that...the onion was a mess and I began to feel better.
Another thing I read in the article was that onions and garlic placed around the room saved many from the black plague years ago. They have powerful antibacterial, antiseptic properties.
This is the second half of the story according to Snopes which claims the legend to be false: While this folk belief is indeed an old one, there's precious little reason to place any store in it. No scientific studies back it, and common sense rules it out: cold and flu viruses are spread by contact, not by their nasty microbes floating loosely in the air where the almighty onion can supposedly seek out and destroy them. As the Wall Street Journal noted of such claims: Biologists say it's highly implausible that onions could attract flu virus as a bug zapper traps flies. Viruses require a living host to replicate and can't propel themselves out of a body and across a room.
The idea that onions have medicinal properties goes back millennia and spans many cultures. Egyptians thought onions were fertility symbols. Ancient Greeks rubbed them on sore muscles, and Native Americans used them to treat coughs and colds. Herbalists note that the World Health Organization recognizes onion extracts for providing relief in the treatment of coughs, colds, asthma and bronchitis. As with most home remedies, there have been few scientific studies with humans — and none on record involving raw onions placed across a room
>>cold and flu viruses are spread by contact, not by their nasty microbes floating loosely in the air >>
If this is true, that the microbes can not float through the air, then we are safe being around people coughing and sneezing. When they cough or sneeze the microbes are thrust through the air to either land on a surface or where someone close enough to inhale before they fall to the ground. I might be getting technical here, but from all I hear they do float through the air. If not, why the need to wear mask? Why the warnings about coughing into your arm or covering your mouth.
Onions and garlic have things that are good for you, so eating them is good for one.
