I am totally blow away by how hard it is to use wheel chair in DC The crowds for the most part do not give you right of way. The city sidewalks are full of bumps and pot holes. I almost tossed her out when I hit a pot hole on a street crossing. On the way to the Whitehouse from Lincoln Memorial I was about 1 block away from the White House and the front rubber wheel poped off. The side walk was made of bricks and one brick stuck out just the right way. We were stranded for over an hour trying to get the wheel back on. I saw a guy in pickup and waved him over to see if he had tools. Anyway I am really frustrated, I think we will call it a day and try again in the morning.

DC is not the best to get around in by any means of transport: car, walk and as you have found out wheelchair. You would think being our nations capital, they would make it safer. When you get home, I would send letters to you legislators, the president, and the watchdog group for the disabled.

How are the cherry blossoms? Did they hold on for you to enjoy? Did you make it the Korean Memorial? I loved the way they did it. The WWII memorial was just be started when we were last there.

Take her to your senators' offices and tell them your problem while you are there. Maybe they will help you. It never hurts to ask!
