Gene is bed bound. As soon as my friend arrives I am going to look at a nursing home that has a bed available. My first and second choice are full. Wish me luck and I will write more soon.

I know how hard it is to place a DH, but you are doing the right thing. Hope the facility available is good and that things go well.

    Hi Barbarakay,
Yes I will also be praying for you with NH placement. Are you in the New Orleans area? Just curious, don't answer if I am being too nosy. I think I remember you mentioning Katrina but unfornuately that hurricane covered a big area. I was living on the Westbank of New Orleans but we moved to the Northshore after Katrina. Things were too unsettled for my LO to stay alone while I worked. I know it has got to be hard to place your LO. You need to grab these hugs sent with all our comfort and support to you.
    Thanks for sharing

Everything has gone so good I can hardly believe it. Sometimes we expect the worst.

Gene went into the NH on Valentine's Day (what a bummer). His son Dave came the night before. He was my rock and angel, you really need family support. It also helped that he is very strong! He pick up his dad with no problem. He helped get him on the toilet, and later Gene said, "who was that bastard?" His son will never forget that. He has a excellent sense of humour so he thought it was funny. I went early and signed all the paper and moved his things in. I fixed his board over the bed with a story of his life and pictures of family. When we took him he was peaceful and accepting. The staff has been very good. In the everning his son, grandson and I went out for dinner. The conversation was wonderful...nice to have real conversation. I took our dog Suzy to see him today. I am going to make her a therapy dog...she was very good and they enjoy her. Now to catch up on sleep.

Pat, you must have me confused with someone else. I live in Santa Paula, CA. I was in that area for a week years ago. My ex and son lived in the area in the 70's. I am sorry for all you have lived through.

I hope to catch up in the next day or so on the blogs and messages.

    HUGS,

Barbarakay--congrats on what so far seems to be a smooth move. May it continue to be a satisfactory arrangement.
