I need to talk this out. DH has most of the symtoms of stage 5. He does not seem to have any for stage 6 or 7.

I'm not sure about your specific issue here, FayeBay, but i'll toss a couple ideas out. nSounds like you have the same problem I had, but ours had to do with smoking. My Dh has been a smoker since he was 21. hey were taken away at the hospital (substituted patch). He came hom and coninued on patch a couple weeks. Then started "boooorrowing cigarettes, bumming them, then started taking off to go get them. Panhandlinbg, hitching a ride, selluing things for pennnies on dollar, to get cigarettes. He was fixated on "he is a smoker." I ahd to weigh what was the most dangerous and deal with that.
With your husband's history, it sounds to me like his mind is working the same way except instead of having to have something your DH is refusing to have something. By his stage of decline, I don't think he's at the point of not eating because his body's shutting down. His mind is more likely back in the anorexic time.
With my Dh I set down an ironclad offer. He stays home and only smokes in 3 locations--enclosed porch, garage, outdoors; in return I will keep him in a limited supply of cigarettes. Perhaps with your husband rewards--things he likes or likes to do in trade for him eating or drinking. For example, "as soon as you get this sandwich gone we can leave for the store."
We went through 1 UTI, so far, and I push and remind Dh to drink at least 1 bottle of water each day in addition to whatever coffee he consumes.

    Hope this stirs some ideas.

My DH is just the opposite. He can't stop eating. Sometimes, he forgets he has eaten and eats again. Mostly, he likes snacks, either salty or sweet. He gets upset if I say any thing. He continues to outgrow his clothes. He has gone for a 40 waist to a 44. The doctors don't seem bothered by his weight gain. He is also inactive, which adds to his weight gain.

maryD my DH lost alot of lbs while on the AD meds for some reason. when i took him off all of them, he gained like yours. froma 35in to a 38in in about 2yrs now! i have to say i like it better. he eats everything i give him and fruit now and healthier foods now instead of always sweets. he does get estatic over candy bars and any type icecream..i have issues with him gobbling things down so fast and wanting more but very polite about asking.aww. i cant resist his smiles over sweets either. so i give in whatever most of the time. all day long we are snacking! i know in end stages they lose alot then so i am not worried either. divvi
