There was a very good series on LIfetime called Army Wives. It was only on for one or two seasons I believe, but reruns are aired now. It focuses on the trials of wives of Army officers and the trials and tribulations they face raising children, working, dealing with life around them without the help of their husband who is off somewhere fighting another battle.
Do you see the similarlity. I wonder if as many people would enjoy the series if it was renamed Alzheimer Wives?
Improved title: Desperate Spouses of Alzheimer County - we want to include the wonderful gentlemen that are taking care of their wives and their perspectives.
This is funny. Saturday I was speaking with my husband's doctor at a conference and he told me an idea he had for a movie about a family dealing with Alzheimer's. He wants it to play up the humorous side.
I think this is a great idea, It has to be better than wife swap. Just think of all the great jokes that could be had. An episode on how the wifes deal with the little blue pill and how their forgetful spouse would not know what to do with them self. I think this has merit.
Go for it!! I doubt it would be a soap opera..nor a reality show...No one would believe it...((gee duh they look normal to me..) probably science fiction??
Guess I'll have to write one this month....it will have four different households....and two with spouses and one with a parent and one with a sibling.....other relatives visiting; friends and co-workers coming and going; all fitting into the funny situations we find ourselves without EVER making fun of the disease....only specific situations (such as two caregivers playing hide and seek, trying to find where the person placed the objects)... (remember the case of the missing pjs?)
we have literally hundreds of glimpses here that are filled with the love we have for our spouses that are humorous that could help reach the mainstream, if we can find the right people (preferably who have relatives with AD) to produce it!
I thought I was going to add a small stainless steel mixing bowl yesterday to the pj's. When DH came in the kitchen I asked him if he knew where it was. I had already checked the cupboards. He went to the cupboard where I keep the bowls and it was between a colander and mesh strainer! He asked if I was surprised he knew where he had put it. I told him "not half as surprised as you".
