I was watching a show the other day (think it was Oprah the same day M. Fox was on) on a condition that causes people to bend over. This woman had her neck at 90 degree angle and she was bent over in addition from this disease. Dr Oz explained that because the muscles that pull them over have tightened up so much, it is painful to try and straighten up. It would be worse than a normal person touching the floor when they are out of shape. Maybe it hurts for him to straighten up. Just a thought

Yes, it does hurt his back if he straightens too much but they worked with him in PT trying to straighten him some because it just keeps getting worse. Interesting, he told me about Ophra having Michael Fox on and he evidentally caught some of it. He didn't mention the neck bending. I wish I had seen the neck part. Maybe if I click on Ophra Internet they will have a tape about it. Sounds like my dh.

Charlotte - I already read it. It was distonia and her head was pulled to one side, but it can pull forward or backward. It sounds like it has symptoms of jerking like M>J> Fox does. But it is neurological and has a lot of similarities. Next time we go to the Neuro I will ask him about it but it sounds like similar meds are prescribed that he now takes. He already is diag. with Parkenism with AD and VD and spinal stenosis. We really don't need something else. Thank the Lord he doesn't have diabetes or heart trouble or other "organ disease".

What gives her the ability to straighten up some is injections of Novocaine in her neck. They had an episode on 'Mystery Diagnosis' where the guy had a similar condition. Fortunately, he found someone to diagnose it and with treatment was able to stand straight.

They gave him injections in his lower back but not in his neck. They did not help his back.

Charlotte--I thought she had Botox shots--that paralyzes muscles--so it sort of makes sense.

Maybe it was botox - would have to watch it again. I think the guy on Mystery Diagnosis it was Botox that they used. Weird how when drugs are used one way they are toxic/deadly and other ways helpful.

It was Botox they gave the woman, not Novocaine, and it has nothing to do with Michael Fox. It is Distonia.
