Imohr, I have one! I am missing a paperback book that "disappeared" day before yesterday! I only had 8 more pages!!! I don't know how it ends!!!!! I hope he didn't throw it away!
We are both still searching. He just goes from attached garage to house and since we haven't been here long enough to accumalate a lot of junk there is not that many places to look. Drives me nuts looking for stuff.
Got out my battery operated hedge/grass cutter a couple of weeks ago to do a little yard work - could not find the battery charger. Turned house and garage up-side-down-no charger. Ordered a new one on-line - should be in tomorrow. Now it will show up for sure over the weekend! DH had been cleaning in the garage and all the other chargers are there - but not mine! Eventually everything "we" have lost turns up somewhere!
FOUND: found them in the car - 4th time around. One in a bag of misc in the trunk (has been missing for some time ) and the other at the bottom of the car wastebasket. I am not a very good searcher.
Please look for DH's hearing aids. I found them in the trash once, and in the side pocket next to his seat in the car once. Maybe he gave them to your husband to keep ... through cyberspace.
Nancy, I can't imagine trying to keep track of hearing aids. My Mom lost her teeth a lot. When she was still walking with her walker she would sit in her recliner or lay on the couch and take her teeth out, sticking them under her chair and forget about them. One time I found them in her pillow case on her bed.
He has placed them between the mattress and box spring, wrapped them in Kleenix and tossed into trash, pushed one way up into his nostril, put them in his partial plate (washing) cup, in his pockets, ----------- I've looked all of those places and more. I haven't even thought about replacing them. He can hear me - really doesn't watch TV... Am I a bad person? I just think spending thousands of dollars ($6000 to be exact) to replace them would be a terrible waste of money. We've seen the ad for the ones either Gourdchipper or Marsh suggested... but I'm not even inclined to order those. I'm sure there are those who would think ill of me for not buying new ones for him. I guess I should..... (He is 82 and in the Severe Stage of AD)
I would not Nancy. I think it would be a waste of money. My Mom's hearing was bad but I knew we could not keep track of hearing aids and I don't think she would leave them in. Reading other posts here that seems to be a universal problem.
Nancy-don't even think about spending that much money. You are ill yourself and your well being takes priority. Get out of the mind set of being a bad person-you are not!!
Well that's a worry off my mind, if you all think it's not a big deal. He's different from so many others I read about, - but one thing I know for sure is that he doesn't really understand what anyone says to him. I can make him understand simple things, but mostly, he's ikn his own quiet, sleepy world.
Thank you for the reassurance. I really needed that. What a day!
Last year - Feb. 08 - we came home from the Caregiver Cruise to my friend's driveway, where all of our cars were parked. Her husband had to go to the bathroom right away, so he unlocked the door, went into the house, came back out, and his keys were gone. He couldn't remember what he had done with them. She tore the house upside down looking for them, and finally figured they must have been flushed down the toilet. $350 later, after a plumber's bill and new keys made, she never did find them. Until last week. She went to put away some stuff from our fundraiser flea market, and when she put her hand up to the top of a box in the garage - VOILA! - last year's keys!
