Been thinking alot about this group and how strong each person has become while challenging AD. A good analogy came to mind that we are another 'covert and elite' group of soldiers working silently day and nite using our "special forces talents and techiniques" to see us thru the battle's front lines. It's like we ar a united battallion of unrelenting men/women who started out as privates and now are closing in on the ranks of 5star generals. everyday we read here how one of us has risen up to meet the challenges of daily living and dying. It's my profound honor to 'serve' with each and everyone of you dear friends! Dedicated, courageous, devoted, and clearly- each of us deserves the 'medal of honor, and 'purple heart' for bravery. Giving up a part of your life to serve the needs of the helpless and sick. The poem - "the Charge of the Light Brigade" comes to mind..i hope you all feel the same- a HUGE pat on the back and loving kiss on the cheek to each of you special people. divvi

Divvi, you are wonderful!! I promote you to Army Chief of Staff! You are a great cheerleader, and guide, and a**kicker when needed! AND you always make me smile! And I need that most of all. I think that's why I post so many jokes. Laughter keeps us going - along with this site and our family here!

    HUGS TO ALL OF YOU!!!!

I don't know. After the day I've had, I feel like an army private who is so bad at learning, she should be thrown out of the military completely. Like when they called Private Benjamin's parents and told them to take her home - she wasn't suited for the army. That's me. Not suited to be a caregiver warrior.

joan, I thought Sid was doing better with the new meds. Heck. You may need to make more adjustments. I left dh alone for an hour today and went out to help a friend make Easter eggs for charity, came back a little while then told him I was going back and help for another hour. He said "I am not going to promise to stay in the house this time". (We live in the country and no place for him to go). I told him if he did the next time I would hire a baby-sitter. That shut him up and he was still in his recliner when I got back.

When I get myself pulled together, there will be a blog tomorrow about it. Actually, I'M the one who needs a medication adjustment. His meds. kept him from ranting and screaming today. The anger is seething underneath all of the time, and he never shuts up about the driving. Never. Ever. But he's quieter about it now. I'M the one who lost it and did the screaming. I just couldn't stand listening to it one more minute. Not befitting of a good soldier.

Divvi: you have some imagination...that was great writting, a very good way to look at it. We are all soldliers, fighting the same battle.

Joan stop knocking yourself down...You have been doing so much lately, and have been under great pressure... If it were not for you, we all would not have this great web-site , think of how many you have helped by putting this all together. Bless you, tomorrow will be a better day...

Joan, you're just worn out! Things will be better after you've had some time to rest. You're the best soldier of any of us. We're just caregiving, you're fighting with everything you have to do something about this horrible disease, in addition to caregiving.

Joan, I think you should see your Doctor. You can't go on this way.

Remember I went to help a friend yesterday do Easter Eggs? This morning, first thing when he got up wanted to know what time I got home last night. I was only gone an hour and got home well before dark but he dwelled on me being gone for a long time. Frustrating!!!!!!!!

    lmohr,

No, the medical doctor has given me all the right medications, and I take them as prescribed. I need to see a therapist, who can help me deal with the emotional turmoil. I have the name of two who deal well with Alzheimer's caregivers. If the insurance approves it, I'm going.

When I was in high school and planning "What I Want To Be" i was discouraged from creative writing, as "you can't make living at that" and "you have to be prepared to take care of yourself. Afterall, stuf happens." So I decided to become a librarian, because at least then I'd be involved with books and writings. Then I had to chose a specialty. With my natural interest in things medical, I decided I'd shoot for a degree as a Medical Librarian. To my disgust, the only true medical libraries back then were in the Military Hospitals. To qulify for employment in them besides your degree, you had to pas the tests for a government employment rating< like a GS10, but you also had to have a military rating. To get that you have to enlist, go through bootcamp, etc. NONE of the services would even consider taking me. I became a Children's Librarian instead.

Now, Divvi says I'm in the service. Sure am glad the military never found out the quality of soldier they turned down. I'm perfectly happy in my little house with DH. I'd never make it overseas. <LOL>

I can, however, push paper with the best--all the, medical, insurance, legal, etc. I'm a pro. Don't know the proper title, but can I be a lead person in the clerking dept.?
