Thank you. It is not just the message boards that have grown. The resources and information on the home page - www.thealzheimerspouse.com - have expanded tremendously, and there are over 360 blogs in the "previous blog" section.

WHOOPPEEE!! Boy, do we love to vent, ask questions, laugh together and help each other! Thank you again, Joan, for seeing the need and answering it.

I am with Mary! Thank you so much Joan. Also, I would like to thank the Dirty Dozen and others that have medical and legal talents to share, and share so generously. Most of us were not in a field that assists AD caregiving. But all of us would share if we could....so our job is to be admires of those that share.

NOW, if you want to know how to CRY ....I am the one to help you.

2000??? no wonder I haven't gotten thru them all yet!!! :-)

Joan--If you ever have the time, I would love to hear the background of exactly how you got the idea for the website. I wonder if your son was instrumental in planting the seed, or if you had posted at the "other" site and decided it wasn't specialized enough to meet your needs, etc. With all the challenges facing you regarding Sid's illness, I think it's incredible that you were able to taken on a project of this scope! What has been suggested to me many times is that I write a book someday (as if there aren't enough of them out there), but most people don't think along the lines of doing something like this while they are actively caregiving.

OK--OK...Maybe I am a little dense but what is the "OTHER SITE" that everyone refers to? Please ...Please ...tell me true...I won't tell anyone else. Promis

Somebody complained when we kept saying "the other site" so we stopped that and started saying Alz Assoc instead ... <grin>

Marilyn, Joan was a member of the Alz Assoc forums, and you can find a bunch of her posts about starting Spouse over there. New Realm was one of the original members here, and you can find old posts from her on "the other site" eager for the latest news on when Spouse would be up and running.

Thanks, Sunshyne, I'll check that out. Somehow I thought we weren't supposed to mention the Alz Assn site by name--I thought it was one of the "rules". Sorry. I haven't spent much time on their site, except on the Enbrel thread, which was more interesting for the personalities and bickering than any of the content Has anyone here followed that?
  9.
what's the rule about the Alz.Assn.? How ODD!
  10.
There is no rule--I just read so many posts where people didn't name it, I assumed it was verboten!

There are actually several other AD discussion forums that have been referred to as the "other site". People on one of those tracked who, bluedaze? here and were giving her a lot of grief for posting here. And some of the people on the Alz Assoc forum got very upset with those of us who were recommending Spouse -- they felt it was disloyal or something. The Alz Assoc pulled those threads and I gather told the people involved that they had no problem at all with the recommendations -- no one has objected since then. Lively times ...
