Last night after my husband's shower, I got him all settled in front of the T.V. with coffee & went to take my shower. When I came back into the living room he was wearing his jeans..okay he sometimes forgets it is evening & puts his jeans back on, however, normally, he will put his pajama bottoms back in the drawer, however, last night he didn't remember changing into the jeans, and no idea where he put the bottoms. I have searched this house over numerous times...can't find them anywhere...looked everywhere you can image. So I guess we have a case of the Traveling Pajama's
  1.
    Try looking in the refrigerator....
  2.
Are you sure he didn't put the jeans on over the pajamas?

..that's what my husband did in the night a couple of nights ago. Only he put on one leg of a pair of trousers over one leg over pj's and then another leg from another pair of trousers over the other leg. THen couldn't figure out how to get out of bed. They all were damp, of course.

Checking if he put the jeans over the pj's was the first thing I did. Also checked the refrigerator, freezer, all cabinets, under & behind everything, all drawers, dishwasher, garage, car, it is almost like the disappeared in to thin air.

If you find them, please check the pockets for my DH's hearing aids.

Check between the mattress and headboard, or under mattress. Those were my DH favorite hiding places, Also under the bathroom sink.

    LOL!

One day, one of our wastebaskets disappeared into thin air. I looked, and looked, and looked, then looked some more.

Tried again the next day, and the day after that.

Finally gave up -- it was hopeless. Stupid thing was too big to be hiding anywhere, sheesh! I decided husband must have left it on the curb next to the garbage cans awaiting pickup, and someone took it.

About a week later, my husband shows up with the wastebasket, very proud of himself for finding it. But that didn't help me any, because he couldn't remember where he found it!

Check the back seat of the car. That's were I found DH's flashlight, pajama top, sunglasses and hearing aids. I had looked over 4 hours for those expensive hearing aids. Now were are looking for the billfold everyday. His favorite place to hide it is between his pillow and pillow case. Now if I can find were I misplaced my mind.......

    Toolbox out in the garage.

We had a lovely thread on the AlzAssoc site, "The case of the missing noodles." Some 80 posts later, the noodles are still missing, but we had a ton of fun suggesting what might have happened to them.

My keys have been missing for about three weeks. My assumption is that they have to be here somewhere, because anytime I used them to drive somewhere I also used them to drive home. Tis a puzzlement...

Well, the pj's are still traveling...they must have met up with the hearing aid, glasses & keys. Let's hope they don't find a car that the keys will fit. lol
So far the toilet is still flushing!

I found my cell phone (that had been on the side table by my recliner) in the trash can(why he put it there we can only imagine!). How about the washing machine? Or hanging in the closet? Or in the dirty clothes hanger?
  5.
I have lost the key to our safe deposit box. I have no idea where it might be. It has not been used in at least 3 years.
  6.
oops, that'll cost you. Did y'all have two keys. Look in your jewelry box. That's where I keep mine.

Marsh I hope the pj's, hearing aid, glasses & keys didn't find your safety deposit key, they could be in Rio by now.
I have checked all the places suggested no luck.
  7.
Kadee, have you checked behind the washer/dryer and maybe the fridge -- awfully dusty back there in our home, but places you might not have thought to look?

No wood stove & I looked outside.
  8.
Marsh-have you looked in the glove box of your car (what an old fashioned term that is). I keep my key in the same folder with my proof of insurance.
  9.
give me a hint...is he burping? or perhaps feeling a bit full??
  10.
I know where they are, I know where they are! My DH's new electric shaver was gone for a couple of weeks, I looked everywhere and then looked everywhere again. One morning it mysteriously showed up on his dresser as mysteriously as it had disappeared. I asked him where it had been. He told me 'at the bowling alley.' Now he couldn't get to the bowling alley unless I took him--which I hadn't--but still, look in your local bowling alley, after all, everything has to be someplace.

I have an IDEA!!!!! How about we give all our LO's a pair of pjs and ask them to put them away. Then we watch to see where they put them. We can then make a list of possibilities or at least give an award for the most creative spot, lol!

Kadee, I know with my FIL he hid things in places that "were" at one time an everyday thing but in the last few years he had no interest in it such as the toolbox as Sunshyne suggested. So if you can think of a place or item that was part of his life daily before AD try looking in there. Gym Bag? Bowling Bag? Briefcase? File Cabinet? etc.............. Another idea is checking something he has been fascinated with lately like a boot, drawer. Good Luck!

Another place my FIL was notorious for hiding things was the toilet tank, the tank that holds the Lu's water. Ya might check there.

i am constantly looking for the clickers to the TV. DH inevitably picks them up and moves them around. some go missing for days then out of the blue turn up. i swear like kadee i turned the house upside down many times looking and nothing. its quite shocker when they do turn up. i have been finding things under couch cushions and down his pants alot. he also zips his jacket and puts things in there too like a kangeroo. ha. my phone went MIA last nite off the table and it began ringing down his pants. was in the depends. luckily they were clean..sigh..then he picked the long candle holder up and began singing in it like karoakee for a bit, then using it like a tape recorder (the atty was back:)..awww..you can only shake your head. divvi

As frustrating as traveling items can be, It really is funny! As I have said often if issues with AD weren't so awful they really could make a great comedy show.

I once found my daughter's sneakers in my freezer-this is the one who works with dementia patients!

I'm alone in the house giggling, you guys are just too much. A pajamagram!!! His Depends had a 'hurry call!!!' A pj scavenger hunt!!!

bluedaze, May be right pajamagram & I thought he forgot how to use the phone. Checked both garbage in the house & the garage. As I said, I think I am imaging he even had those bottoms on. I have laid in bed the last couple nights trying to think where they are.

You know those slicers for apples that cuts them in wedges? I have lost every one I ever had - they just disappear. After the 3rd one, I gave up owning one.
  16.
Charlotte-I know where they went. They took off with my cheese slicers. Best way to find the critters is to buy a replacement-they come right on home.

My daughter suggests you look in the place where his pjs are kept! Maybe he put them away???
  17.
Kadee, do as I do and forget about them and buy him another pair. They will soon show up when you least expect it.
  18.
Kadee--Have you stripped the bed? My DH has had underpants tangled up in between the sheets and I didn't find them until I changed the linens. Is there a prize for the person who "finds" them?
  19.
Good suggestion about checking between the sheets, MarilynMD.
When my DW and I were relative newlyweds, we returned home from college for a visit with my parents and managed to lose a pair of panties down between the sheets at the foot of the guest bed (wonder how that happened?) -- and when my Mom got around to stripping the bed some week or so later she initially blamed my younger brother for having slipped someone in there for hanky panky.

A cousin spent his honeymoon in a plush NY hotel. When they got home, he realized he did not have his PJ bottoms & wrote the hotel asking if they found a pair of red silk men's PJ bottoms & please send them to him. They wrote back & asked if he could be more specific in the description because they had countless dozens of red silk men's PJ bottoms.

This thread is the most enlightening and fun ever!! What ever will the newbies think.
