I found my DH chewing away on a tissue this evening. The third weird thing in 3 days. How can you sleep at night or take a shower when he could put anything in his mouth at any time? I deal with his overeating by hiding food but how do you hide everything? I'm upset right now and afraid to go to bed. This is no way to live. cs
They are just like our babies were...they put everything in their mouths too, remember? We just do the best we can. Keep carrot sticks and cucumber sticks as well as other low fat snacks out in front and in the fridge where he can see them. Just as babies want to suck on something or eat all the time, so do they.
My DH has always had a strong oral need. When he quit smoking, he substituted tooth picks. He still 27, years later, needs something in his mouth. Usually, now, it is cough drops or ice cubes. He has broken several teeth.
