As I type the Florida legislature is considering a bill enabling early testing for dementia. What I didn't like is that the speaker who herself is a caregiver referred to Alzheimer's as an old person's disease. Boy do we still have a lot of educating to do
Hi bluedaze ........ I'm Canadian so your *news flash* doesn't affect me or my husband, however, the reference the speaker made to alzheimer's being an old person's disease ...... could she have meant that although alzheimers IS/HAS BEEN previously considered an old person's disease that now it's been found to be striking younger and younger people and therefore it would be important to pass a bill enabling early testing for dementia ? ....... just a thought :)
Oh, okay ...... as I didn't hear her speech - I was just putting that thought out there for consideration.
You're right any step forward in dealing with this/these dreadful disease(s) is a step in the right direction. Sadly, none of us, nor those we look after, will live long enough to benefit but, perhaps those who follow will have an easier time of it and maybe, who knows, those who follow those may not even have to deal with AZ/Dementia if a cure or vacine is discovered.
Bar-bra when Joan asked for our desires to take with her to Washington my wish was for funding for earlier diagnosis. This was before the statement I just heard. Hope this is a turning point. I have read such great research coming from Canada. Even the article on Joan's homepage describing dementia comes from Canada.
