I am taking DH to a different neuro today. I wasn't impressed with the last one he had been seeing so I hope this guy is better. I have made a list of things for the doctor to read before he sees DH they are not in order I just typed them as I remembered them so I hope they help.

I'll let you know how the appointment went.

Our neurologist is obscessed (!) with the exact progression of DH's decline. The first time we saw her, I'd relate one thing and then the other, and she'd stop me and say, what year was that. What year was that, before or after the next event. I thought I was going to collapse with "brain stress". I had other information, but she was asking questions - and with the stress of the moment, and DH glaring at me as if I was betraying him, it was really tough. After that first visit, I filled out a tiny spiral notebook with dates as I could remember them of 'everything'....so if she'd ask her specific questions I'd have an answer.- most of the time.

She is renown in her field, highly regarded, but certainly not a sweet person. I get brain freeze when we are there, because of her rapid fire questions to me.

Nancy, have you tried telling her that? Sometimes science types get so focused on the science, they forget the social. (Not me, of course. Hah!)

Well we went to the new neuro and both of us like him much better than the last one. I think DH did well on the mini mentals and I didn't know there were that many different ones! He also checked DH's reflexes, heart, lungs and anything else that could be checked. I don't think he is convinced DH has AD. Wouldn't that be a kick in the pants after all this time? DH will stay on the Aricept and he gave a sample pack plus a prescription for Namenda if he thinks it's needed he will put DH on an anti depressant not because he is depressed but the neuro said they can help with the memory issues.

They took blood and did a chest XRay and we go back in 6 weeks so I hope we will learn more then.
