For at least six months now I have been using AngelFood. It is a soure of good food that is provided to everyone regardless of age, color, creed or income. It is available to order on line. Credit or debt card are accepted as well as food stamps. It is in 38 states and has served 500,000 people so far. We are Catholic and pick up our food at a New Thought Church. Religion is never mentioned just a helpful hand and smile to help get the food that you have ordered out to your car. Here is the link. http://www.angelfoodministries.com/about/ Hope it will help. My brother orders the Senior Food Dinners. 10 for 28.00. All the need is some salt and pepper for my taste. Dessert is also provided for those dinners. There are several packages that you can choose from. I get the main food package and the fruit and veggie box. Hope that someone will be able to use this.

Sally=good to hear from you. This is a great time to think of others when we are all squeezing the dollar.

Sally, thanks for the information. There are so many people laid off here and really hurting financially. My son-in-law has had to take a drastic pay cut. I checked the site and there's one near us. So many payments are fixed but groceries are one thing we can save on.

I work in a large Human Services organization. We encourage clients to use this food distribution program. The local Angel Food Ministry has grown tremendously in the last few months and it certainly is not just for those in need. Recently our local paper did a feature on Angel and spoke with people picking up food. More than one couple ( who were working and not in financial need) said they purchased food monthly and then shared with neighbors including the elderly who were in need. One benefit to sharing the food is that nothing goes to waste. There is no income restriction as all. As I understand it, it helps to have as many people as possible support the program. Once you look it up on line, you can find out if there is a pick up location near you and you can review the grocery and menu lists for next month. I think the cut off date for March is the 16th. ( At least here)

Yes Sally we have used it too. It is a great program and also helps the caregiver in just going and picking it up and not having to spend the time in the grocery store. It has been a big help for us!
