I would like to relate an incident that happened to my DH two nights ago.

Now DH and I go through a routine in the evenings. First, I prepare an early dinner, then DH rests in his chair and watches TV for an hour or so. I then give him his eveniing pills, put his pj's on and get him ready for bed. I tuck him in around 7 pm, pull up the down comforter, kiss his forhead and tell him nity night. I go about my chores. Usually, DH will get up again and come out to the kitchen for a drink, snack, etc. This up and down again goes on between 3 to 6 times before he really sleeps for the night.

Well....on the 4th go round, DH comes out of the bedroom with his jeans and tee shirt on. (What NOW!) I ask, "Why do you have your jeans on, are you going somewhere? DH looks down and says, "I want a drink of water". "OK",I say, "But why do you have your jeans on?" DH replys ~ DEADPAN, "Around here, you never know. The'll probably run down the street!" I ask, " Do you really think that your pants would let themselves out and run down the street with nobody in them?" OMG...Of course, I start to laugh but DH gets mad...He really means it!

OK, so, redirect. I take him by the hand and lead him back to the bedroom and tell him not to worry about his pants. I will take care of them! We get his pj's back on and I make a big show of hanging the jeans on a hook in the bathroom and tying the legs together. NOW, THEY WON'T GO ANYWHERE!

DH went back to sleep like a baby.

Makes you wonder what else is happening in their brains. Scary.

hmmmmmmm, another one of those Alrighty Then moments!

Don't you just wonder how they come up with some of this stuff? Some of the things they come up with are really very funny, if it wasn't soooooooooo sad!

I was going to say the same thing, Rk. You laugh but your heart hurts.

Yes, I couldn't help but laugh. But, then I cried for another loss. Of what is real to him.

And now, just a little while ago. DH cries and thinks he has no home. He says good by to our dog, Gabe and says how much he will miss him. I convince him he is going nowhere and that he will be with me in our home for a long time. Ahhhhh...

    MMarshall,

I am sorry that your husband is at the point of another "loss", as you said. But please forgive me - you made me laugh. It really was one of those Alzheimer funnies - I need to put it in the humor section on the home page, if you don't mind.

I don't mind, joang. Once I got over the laugh and realized it was bitter sweet.
