We seem to have to lose ourself in the job of taking care of all the wants and needs of our AD spouses and we caregivers need all the personal comforts we can get. I needed a new mattress so I recently purchased an adjustable bed that fits inside
my oak sleighbed. It is one of the new foam ones similar to Temperpedic but cheaper and not as tall. I especially wanted one not as tall because my dh can
get on it occasionally for a change of pace. We absolutely LOVE IT. I can raise the head and knee area to a comfort zone and prop my laptop or book on my lap and it is absolutely more comfortable then any recliner. My set ran under $2000. and comes with a 90 day comfort warrenty on the mattress.

I already had a twin craftmatic bed for my dh but he doesn't use the adjustmets. Actually a couple times I raised his head and during the night he fell out of bed, so you have to watch that. The twin craftmatic I bought slightly used for $300. in our local bulletin board.

We have had an adjustable bed for over 3 year now. I like it as well cause I can raise my head just a tad and my feet higher. I wondered how Dh would do with it as this disease progresses. I guess I can always get a side rail if need be. Rk

RK - I think a side rail would be good because I think parts being elevated sort of gives them a tendacy to just roll out. At least, that seems to be our experience here.
While he is in bed with me, I help him in and out.
