My DH also had headaches with Aricept but they also went away. I did have to reduce his dosage to just 5 mg daily though, because of the hallucinations. At the lower dose they went away too.
thank you both he is still working but having a terrible time of it he gets stressed cause he cant do something and starts crying its embarrassing and humiliating for him since he started the meds he also seems to have a lot more symtoms of alz im trying to get the dr to put him on dissability to take the stress of trying for them not to find out about his alz
Mine doesn't take aricept (he does take namenda) but often complains of terrible headaches. I think we've had an earlier thread about this too; it's not so uncommon. He had them before he started on ANY AZ meds.
linda t, you know, the stress of being on the job and having AD could be an additional cause of headaches. Can you imagine how your poor DH has to work even harder to keep it all together? My, my!
DH complained of a headache again today. He has commented for years of headaches in the front. I always thought they were sinus headaches. Often nothing would get rid of them - just minimize the pain. He isn't one to complain or comment about pain, so now I have to really pay attention. Since the MRI and CT came back showing frontal lobe shrinkage, I am wondering if that was the cause. They do not know if he has always had the shrinkage due to no other one to compare to.What I have found interesting is that the doctors have only asked him his history - not me. He rarely ever remembers to tell. He never told them about his surgery for GERDS - so I told the last neurologist we met with. Just like he was depressed for years but told the doctors he was fine.
My husband has had bad headaches. Both before and after his event that caused his dementia. I don't know if the Razdyne made the whole thing worse or not, but they have calmed down lately. Either that or he no longer can tell me about them.
Mine has bad headaches too. No Razadyne and he had them really for years, maybe before he was taking any meds but certainly before he was taking anything but namenda.
Headaches can have many causes. My mother was 70 years old before she realized that the headaches she had suffered from for years were caused by dairy products. When she learned to stay away from dairy, she was fine.
Mawzy, I agree that its probably stress. When I get stressed I don't usually get a headache, but the right side of my neck starts to ache. I think its because I tense up.
