of time when you CAN do something.. what do you do?

I used to tell people, when computers were new in the office, turn it on and go have a cup of coffee. By the time you come back it'll be ready to use. Or the same with printing. Or with sorting databases, believe it or not! Or connecting to the internet.

Now, he goes in the shower. I read the paper for ten minutes. He comes out and gets dressed and we eat breakfast. An hour later he's still just sitting at the breakfast table. I've finished the paper and checked email etc.

I tend to mostly fiddle with computer stuff, myself; I do still have a bunch of things to do there. Today I started exploring Facebook. I had never tried to understand it, am still not sure it's very interesting, but maybe there's more than meets the eyes there. DO any of you use it? It sure is a time-filler!!

Facebook is a great way to keep up with what the grandkids are doing--and also to see their pictures.

I use it to kkeep in touch with friends and family too. I think it's a little annoying sometimes though and had rather just e-mail. But I do like that you can post lots of pictures.

briegull, I am new to facebook so haven't had time to explore it a I am sure there is more than what I know about it. But so far I have reconnected with 4 or 5 friends from high school. Looking forward to finding more old friends. Other than that benefit of the site, I am pretty much clueless to all that can be done there. Rk

I kept asking my friends who were on facebook WHY? WHATS THE POINT? and all they said was that kids use it instead of email. So I googled "how to use facebook" and found these videos which explain a lot of how to use it:
    http://www.expertvillage.com/video-series/1261_facebook-use.htm

It does mean that people can be friends with one another without knowing their email addresses, and you can get private mail (though most people don't seem to do that among my aquaintances. It's very easy to upload photos - you don't have to resize them or anything. And it's easy to follow various causes, etc. As far as I can tell, you don't get any spam by joining (it's free). I'm not entirely convinced that it's a good thing, but since I have quite a large address book I'm suddenly hearing from a lot of people I haven't heard from in a long time, including some abroad. It is extremely easy to use.

I like facebook because I like seeing the different worlds I am a part of together on one page and I get my daughter's updates. I don't know if you would find me by searching facebook for http://deeplanguage.blogspot.com/ or whether that wouldn't come up because my profile is private. I would be glad to add friends from the Alz Spouse world but I don't want to give my full name or that email address here on a publically available web page (my profile here does have an email address, but it is a less revealing one than the one I am registered under in Facebook).
