Has anybody else tried Meals on Wheels? It finally got to the point where I couldn’t get three meals a day ready for us every single day. It was hard enough just getting to the store, let alone getting a meal cooked. Now we are getting Meals on Wheels for lunch five days a week. The food isn’t fancy, but I don’t have to shop for it or cook it or wash the pots and pans. Since my husband is 60 now (nearly six years after diagnosis) the local council on aging helps with the cost of his meal. (I'm not 60, but I can get a meal, too, since I am the spouse of an eligible person. We pay full price for my meal.) It’s really a big help for us. I can use my time and energy for other things besides cooking, and I don’t have to worry if the weather is bad and I can’t get to the store when I need to.
Just thought I would mention Meals on Wheels in case somebody else was having trouble with full-time cooking.
This is a great program, unfortunatly not all communities have one in place. If you do not have one in your city call some of the larger churches and see if they would be interested in starting the program. I am so glad that you are on one that you have 3 meals a day.
I finally accepted their offer to help in November.. they have been trying to sign us up for a least 4 years. Though I am 41, I do get my meals as well because I am disabled. They come out 4 days a week with fresh meals, then they give you some frozen ones to help get you through the weekend. I have to say it truly has been a blessing. One less thing I have to worry about!
